Wouldn't be cool to bring a new Suzuki Cultus from Pakistan to North America? If you sent them old chassis, they could build new Cultus that only has to meet the requirements of the model year of that chassis... They did this with VW Beetles for a time and you could buy a new Old Beetle for $10,000 |

Not so fast

Yeah, that would be really cool. There are tons of awesome cars out there, both new and old-but-still-in-production not for sale here. But, even if you could afford it, bad things can happen if someone tries to import a car less than 25 years old into the US. I don't know what it's like in Canada. Hopefully better than here? Feds still crushing imports over misguided "safety" concerns

Weird. Several years ago the rules were changed for a short time - a massive influx of minty 15 year old right hand drive vehicles from Japan showed up here. You still see them everywhere, but no more new ones I assume. |

I wonder how different the internals are on these. For example, would they be like those of the standard emissions, advanced emissions (1994-95), or OBDII like the later models here? Conor |

I found a brochure online. The picture shows a 4 cylinder under the hood. The specs say the engine type is a G10B with a displacement of 993cc. Do they make a 4 cylinder version with the same displacement as the G10 we all know and love or is there a misprint? See http://www.paksuzuki.com.pk/Automobile/Cultus/main-site.html Conor |

Ok, I found it. I guess the G10B was never sold here but was popular overseas. It has similar power to the G10 here. Why not a 3 cylinder? Smoother operation? It looks like a pretty basic car. There is no radio, no cigarette lighter, etc. Conor |
