Look where the semi truck ends up at the very end of the video...he starts in the middle lane, jerks over into the right lane where he nearly hits AV, then hoons all the way over into the LEFT lane at the very end. All without signaling. Semi driver is an asshole. |

Coche, I'm going 60mph from the middle of the ramp onto the freeway. I'll get up to 65 or so but that's it. The speed limit is 60 so I go 60, that's the SPEED LIMIT for those that can't read the little black and white signs by the side of the road. It's not a suggestion, it is the maximum speed allowed. If someone doesn't like it I suggest they change lanes or don't drive at all. I'm not going over the posted speed limit so that I can get another ticket trying to use the excuse I'm keeping up with traffic. Not again I've been given like 4 tickets by dick cops even though I'm just trying to keep up with traffic so I go the damn speed limit. I'm tired of paying for tickets just so I don't inconvenience other people. |

Only ones I absolutely DETEST is the idiots who come to a complete stop at the top of the onramp to wait for the freeway traffic to clear. |

Where do you see the semi "jerk" into the right lane from the middle lane? Also, where does he almost hit AV? One more thing. Something I did not notice before. The semi has the left blinker on since the rear of the trailer enters the video all the way till the end of the video. I hypothesize that he wanted to get into the center lane but could not due to the pickup on his left. At the end of the video we see that the pickup has passed the semi, allowing him to move into the CENTER lane. |

Do I agree with Iamgeo or Cobrajet?! I feel like deciding whether to hang out with Hitler or Stalin. If you really watch the video. Look at the wear line in the road. One part is dark grey and other is light grey. Those lines show it wasn't that close. The trucker is actually heading away from AVs car. I agree with Iamgeo....SHIT!!!! I'm not saying AV is wrong or a liar. There are many elements. He had a second or two to react. We can watch this video several times and get to look in hindsight. Hell, last night I almost wrecked my dirtbike, but if you saw it from a different perspective, you wouldn't have thought it was that close. No biggie. |

Dangerous to do this for many reasons...one of which is in the original post of this thread. Get to the speed of traffic and then slow down if you must. |

I see you live in Texas. Texas is a presumed speed limit state. Three Types of Speed Limits The 50 states basically use three types of speed limits. We call these “absolute,” “presumed” (or “prima facie” in legalese), and “basic” speed limits. Because each type of speed-limit violation often requires a unique defense, it is key to understand which you are charged with violating. Absolute. Most states have an “absolute” speed law. There is no trick to how this works: If the sign says 40 mph and you drive 41 mph or more, you have violated the law. Presumed. “Presumed” speed-limit violations are a little more complicated but give you far more flexibility in building your defense. In states that use this system for all or some of their roads—California and Texas, for example—it’s legal to drive over the posted limit as long as you are driving safely. For example, if you are driving 50 mph in a 40-mph zone, you are “presumed” to be speeding. But if it is 6 a.m. on a clear, dry morning with no other cars on a wide, straight road, and you can convince the judge that you were driving safely given those conditions, you should be acquitted. That’s because you present facts that “rebut the presumption” that by going over the limit you were driving at an unsafe speed. (We’ll give you more information about this below.) Basic. The concept of the basic speed law is even trickier. It works like this: In all states you can be charged with speeding by violating the “basic” speed law, even if you were driving below the posted speed limit. The ticketing officer must simply decide that you were going faster than you should have been, taking into account the driving conditions at the time. Or put another way, if you are driving 40 mph in a 45-mph zone on an icy road in heavy fog, a cop could sensibly conclude that by driving too fast for road conditions you are in violation of the “basic” speed law. This type of ticket is mostly handed out after an accident. This is from here....Fight Your Speeding Ticket: What Is the Law? Edited by iamgeo, Jun 23 2015, 09:37 PM.

During the course of this THIRTY SECOND video, the semi goes from the center lane, to the right lane, then the center lane again, and then the left lane at the very end. If you are in a 50,000 pound 18-wheeled vehicle doing 70+ mph, that's JERKING. Would it be jerking in a Geo? No. And if you see him signaling, please tell me exactly where in the video that happens. There is a very simple way for people on the freeway to avoid merging traffic if they don't want to slow down...STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE RIGHT LANE. In most states, slow traffic is supposed to stay right, and faster traffic is supposed to stay left. It's pretty obvious that this trucker didn't want to slow down for anyone, and he was cutting around people instead. This looks to be a pretty busy road, and that seems kind of thoughtless to me. Where does he almost hit AV? Really? Did you not see AV swerve onto the shoulder to miss this jackass? Edited by Cobrajet25, Jun 23 2015, 09:52 PM.

What video are you watching? There is NO WAY you can see the semi move into the right lane before it enters the video. He is going straight at that point. AV does move his car to the right when the semi is passing him. That is because he was not merging properly. Also notice the brake lights are on when he enters the frame. Obviously you are also blind to blinking lights. Look at the left rear of the trailer when it enters the video. Yup, that is blinking lights signaling that he wants to move to the left. The lights are blinking till the end of the video. At the end of the video the semi is, very obviously, moving into the center lane. |

Do you have reading comprehension issues, iamgeo, or are you calling AV a liar? Edited by Cobrajet25, Jun 23 2015, 11:22 PM.

Here's the un-edited full version where he cuts all the way into the fast lane and then tailgates a guy in the fast lane...so he's going at least 70 mph. What does he need to be in the fast lane for anyway? Isn't that illegal for semi trucks? |

It's possible that AV didn't see it correctly, by his own admission. The pickup that is beside the truck would have had to have been hauling ass to be up beside the truck already when the truck is past (which is entirely possible). I would say it is really hard to nail down exactly what happened based on the video provided. |

Depends on the state. I don't remember that being the law in Texas, which is where I was driving out of, but it has been a good number of years. |

Man, I still don't see this clown using any turn signals. Brake lights, yes. But no turn signals. |

Cobra, I didn't see it either... until I went to Youtube and watched it on full screen, and there it was, left turn signal is on as he goes by. He goes to the fast lane to not be right up behind the truck that was passing him while the left turn signal was on. If, and this is a pretty big if, AV misread his position and he was already in the slow lane then he was trying to get over to avoid hitting AV and the pickup wouldn't let him over, at which point he's pissed that AV isn't merging properly and trying to run into him from the right and the pickup is preventing him from avoiding the accident on the left and now he want's to get away from all of these idiots that are trying to ruin his day and possibly cost him money. Just a possibility. |
