i have a brass radiator and its the best purchase ever, tab broke off from vibration or what ever i was able to solder it back on in the perfect place. nothing is worse on a road trip than car issues. nothing is better than cruisin on the interstate seat kicked back a few slots doin 80 listning to good tunes and knowing your car wont take a massive hud at any second :thumb

As some internet people suggested, the shimmy in my HHR seemed to stop once I hit 70 MPH. I argued with my mom that I couldn't afford to take the HHR on this trip Tuesday. Apparently she didn't want me "dying" in the Metro, :lol so she pushed $40 at me and told me to take the HHR. Guess I know what I'm driving! :)

That's probably for the best. I'd have to think twice about driving that radiator the 30 miles to work! Take the HHR. Your momma loves you and if she's willing to pay for gas, there's no way you'd win that argument if you refused!!

Yeah, mommas purchasing insurance.

Better gas money now than tow fees, etc etc later.

She doesn't even know about the radiator. When I bought the car, I let it slip that it didn't have air bags, and she threw a fit. Hasn't liked it since. :P

Drove my HHR to Philly and back. Concert was fun, hotel was scary. We found cockroaches frozen in the ice from the ice machine. I slept uneasy that night. Guess you get what you pay for with a $60/night hotel. Only issue on the way home was that at one point the HHR didn't want to shift up to fourth gear on the turnpike. Went up to over 4,000 RPM @ 80 some MPH and still didn't want to shift up. It shifted when I put it into neutral and back into drive. It is a little slow shifting at times.

I think I am done driving it until I pay the loan down to the car's value. I'd love to trade it in on a brand new 5-speed 2015 Nissan Versa. Only $12,000; the cheapest new car in the USA. I test drove one today for the fun of it. Shifts a lot smoother than the Metro, that's for sure. The electronic throttle took some getting used to. The salesman didn't know how to drive a stick, so I had to pull the car around :lol

I don't think anyone in my family likes the car. My grandma rode in it the other day and said it was a bad car. I told her that I would see to it that the Metro would out live her. Oops... She wasn't happy about that one. :P

Why doesn't your mom like your Geo?

I sure hope you aren't planning a career in international diplomacy!! :O :O

With that kind of tact you'd be starting World War III (or is it IV now? I lose track of these things!!) :D :D

My metro is stone reliable and so is my rio, but I NEVER take either of them on trips - or any other car I own. You can rent a subcompact for $23, drive a brand new car with cruise control and be secure in the knowledge that if anything happens to it, you can just dial the 800 number and they'll bring you another one.

Exact same thing my daughters BF does. Doesn't want to put lots of miles on his new ride.

I always said I would have a big car if I won the lottery. I would still have my Metro, of course. Probably a half dozen of them... :lol

A truck would be useful, but I was never truly interested in SUV's or crossovers. I would have a huge, old full size sedan for fun. Maybe a big plush 70's car, back when a full size sedan could actually comfortably seat 6 adults and luggage. But I am not into new, large, expensive Cadillac's and what-have-you with every feature imaginable.

My Mom has a Limited Toyota Sienna van, with everything. Navigation, heated leather seats, car alarm, auto starter, power everything. It is an all wheel drive, and gets maybe 19-21 to the gallon on a really good day (read: highway drive). What a waste... I know her car payment is over $500 a month.

I would love to have a new car when I pay off the HHR. I test drove that brand new 5-speed manual Nissan Versa the other day. It was great! Comes standard with A/C, CD player, power steering, etc. Twice the horsepower of my Metro! Only 19 miles on it. Mind you, it has manual windows, no remote entry, and reviews portrayed it as sluggish (compared to other new cars). Obviously these folks don't drive Metros regularly. It shifted so smooth, and felt like a luxury car to me. :lol All in all, I have to talk myself out of it to keep a car payment off my shoulders. But, man... :drool

I've never been out your way. Heck, I've never been west of Ohio before. My dad told me about the soup they serve in bread bowls out in San Francisco. I'll have to head out there some day.
