I am out of the loop as far as Donald's recent comments go, but I do remember a few of his others. This is the guy who kept pushing the birther nonsense long after everyone else was satisfied- except maybe Oily Taintz. He was on David Letterman railing against our government soft on China policy. Letterman asked him where his latest clothing line was being manufactured, and he hemmed and hawed, saying he didn't know. Letterman folded back the collar of one of Donald's dress shirts and revealed they were made in China. It is the look on Donald's face that betrayed him as disingenuous. Check out the video on youtube. Trump is out only for himself. |

Lol, Trump is not exactly my favorite person either. You are one of very few people who can see through what the media wants you to believe. They have plenty of "dirt" on Trump from over the years that they can use to distract viewers with, but they do not have him on the actual statements. Because of the PC movement, it has become a requirement for people to give a brief qualifying statement prior to discussing issues that involve other races. We can't just jump into a topic about blacks for example, without making it clear that we are friends with some blacks, work with blacks, or otherwise can prove that we are not racist. From what I can tell, we are all assumed racist when discussing other races, until we give this qualifying PC statement that Trump failed to deliver. His punishment for this is that his statements are being manipulated to make it sound like he was referring to all Mexicans, and not just the illegal immigrants. The PC machine now requires all media and politicians to disagree with Trump, and to steer clear of pointing out that his statements are true. Further obscuring of his statements can now be used as a way to qualify to talk about Mexicans without being viewed as a racist, while pointing out that his statements are true proves that you are. The media sets the agenda, and the viewers perpetuate it by posting or spreading whatever unrelated dirt they can dig up. |

Yeah, I agree with them trying to say you are racist just for disagreeing being the "in" thing. This isn't new but seems to actually be acceptable now. When growing up, we had some neighbors next to us who were bad on many fronts. The happened to be Jewish. They accused our family of being anti-Semitic which was funny. Our best friends just up the street were also Jewish! That was the first thing my parents popped out after that accusation and that shut them up. I mean they were hooking garden hoses and extension cords up to our house to steal electricity and water when we went on vacation! We came home a day early once and discovered this nice little surprise. These are the kind Seinfeld would have had a field day with. I have nothing against Jews by the way but these were bad news. I have encountered good and bad examples of every race, gender, age, and religion. My parents turned off the valves to the outside spigots and the circuit breakers to the outside plugs after this whenever we left for long. As for NPR, yes, the are left wing. They do have some interesting shows and new but you have to know they are biased like all the rest. All the Prius driving around here seem to have an NPR sticker and an Obama sticker. It is almost a requirement to buy one of these cars and I find it funny. I was out and about this weekend and have to say that I saw more Confederate flags in a couple days that I have seen in the past 10 years. Obviously a lot of people are pissed and putting them up just to protest all this crap. Conor |

Roughly seven minutes into Trump's announcement speech, he blew my mind. He said the US has become the dumping grounds for the world's problems. I never thought I'd hear so much smack talk in the opening of a presidential announcement. It is refreshing. I've got 44 minutes left on this and I'll be back. Update: I watched a 5 minute response video part way through his speech, it was labeled "Trump offends Mexico and loses Latino vote." That eats me up inside. It is just like every black person being African-American. It is just untrue. There are many different races of Latinos and some even hate Mexico! You are not losing the vote of an entire demographic based on one thing. It just doesn't happen. Edit #2: I rewatched what Trump said about Mexico. He admitted even some are good people. No one focused on that. Edit #3: Watched another response video; frankly, I cannot watch trump for a hour straight. He paid people to go to his announce? Isn't that a common thing in our political system? People don't show up to speeches like they use to. They watch them on the internet. Edited by Freeman, Jul 6 2015, 06:09 AM.

Lol, youtube rocks. That's how I have watched all of the candidates speeches... Yea, there are plenty of responses that are meant to discredit or disagree with him, but nobody seems to be analyzing his statements for accuracy. Ann Coulter has done some analyzing though... Are you suggesting his statements are true or false? I don't really want to research every story he told. But if you already know, I'd gladly read a condensed version. |

The main idea here is for each of us to decide on our own if he is right or wrong, without the media manipulating our decision. This is challenging, since it is all we really have for reference, so all we can really do is sift through all the biased media, but if we look at enough of it, we can get a pretty good idea. Here is a link to what Ann Coulter has to say: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/30/coulter-im-offended-is-not-an-argument-against-trump-facts-back-him-up/ I won't make any effort to cover up my stance in Trump's favor, but I also don't want to instigate a trump debate. As much as I enjoy a heated debate, my main objective in this thread is to promote independent thought without having people use ammo provided by their media sources to throw at each other. Screw the media. We can sort through the various media sources and make our own opinions. Edited by evmetro, Jul 6 2015, 10:25 AM.

I think this stance represents the majority of our country, and is what the media is counting on in order to promote their biased agenda. I would say that researching every little detail of what is going on in the world is not as important as just being aware that what you do hear is biased, no matter what media source it came from. If something does come up in the news that interests you, that's when it is worth taking the time to research the opposing views so that you can level the playing field. My quest to know everything that is going on is not the norm, and I don't know if many people have the same appetite for media as I do. |

I kind of like his crazed stance on a few things. For one, Ford, I do not think should outsource so much of their manufacturing. Ford just got passed up by a foreign car as the 'most American' car because less and less of their vehicles are being manufactured stateside. Is a 35% tax the solution? No, not really. That will drive up consumer price. Would it make America a cheaper option for manufacturing? Possibly. It might, I don't know. I'm still listening to his announcement. |

Yea, that Ford thing is pretty interesting, considering that Trump can't bought. I think this is why the other republicans hate him so much, since they still need any money that Ford can contribute. |

That's why my pops liked the idea of The Governator. Someone who doesn't rely on the party for money or businesses with private interests is much more likely to stick to what they really believe in. Obviously I'm not a huge fan of the state of California, but the idea is nice.I watched several media backlashes about Trump's Mexico statement, but some of the arguments were ridiculously dumb. One girl said her parents were illegals and now she is a citizen and went on to tell some story about what a great opportunity her life has been. But that doesn't really excuse coming here illegally. Why not obtain a legal immigration status? It irks me. Then again, I'm a habitual rule follower and sheep. So who knows! EDIT: Getting to the end of Trump's speech now. He said he would withdraw Obama's order on immigration. Why isn't that the part the media focuses on? Edited by Freeman, Jul 6 2015, 11:53 AM.

I sure wish I understood Spanish. There was a horrific shooting in San Fransisco the other day by an illegal immigrant, and the media is trying to cover it up in the wake of Trump's comments, The link below has some info in spanish that I can't understand, but I think it is relevant. Anybody fluent in Spanish? http://www.libertarianrepublican.net/2015/07/tv-reporter-interpreter-coach-illegal.html?m=1 . |

1) My take is this guy was at the pier. Wanted to shoot seal. Accidently shot a woman. I assume he was drunk or high. 2) He repeats many times he did it and is ready to plead guilty and take his lumps. 3) There is no conspiracy here. Everything this guy says is being recorded and will be used against him in court. 4) My take is the reporter understands Spanish because several times he responded directly to something the perp said without waiting for a translation. 5) Most translations I have seen on TV are not very good. 6) The problem for the translator and the reporter is that the perp is a moron who can hardly put a sentence together, let alone a coherent thought. He keeps changing his answer when it comes to 2 critical issues: A) is he remorseful B) Does he remember what happened. So they keep asking him the same questions over and over and getting different answers 7) Half the time he says he does not remember what happened but states he was smoking a cigarette, eating crackers, and walked away after he fired. 8) The part you question went something like this: Do you feel bad for what you did? No. Why not? I do not remember what happened. If someone shot you sister how would you feel? I would be sorry. Do you feel bad for the victim? Yes a feel bad for everyone. This guy is dead meat. Nothing the interpretor says will change the verdict. Everything this guy said on video will be used against him. The interpretor and reporter know this. They are just trying to get a coherent statement from the guy to use in a 30 second segment. The illegal loving city of San Francisco is not going to let this guy go because he says he is remorseful. Some DA is going to make an example of this guy. My only question is this: Because (I assume) he was drunk when he shot the woman it probably was an accident. That probably limits his liability, say manslaughter. I'm sure the DA will go for murder 2, murder 1, death penalty, whatever he thinks he can get from the jury. I think the DA will have a hard time proving intent with this guy's incoherence. |
