I've been restoring my 93 vert over the last year, including bodywork, total paint job, completely redone interior, new engine, lowered suspension (H&R springs), electrical modifications, and other new items (light assemblies, mirrors, door latches, etc). I'm still working on sourcing wheels, but that's coming.![]() So this morning I open the garage door to haul something out. I'm just about done, when, while walking by the left-rear corner of my Metro, something caught my eye. I stopped to take a closer look. One of the tail-lights is busted, some paint is scraped off the bumper, and there is about a 6-inch crease along the back of the trunk lid. I drove it to work yesterday and somebody clipped it while it was parked at work (that was the only place I parked yesterday). It's not so bad that it happened...those things happen. What I'm pissed about is that they didn't have the balls to at least leave a note. If it was one of my coworkers, I'm fairly confident they would have come forward. The problem is that we often get vendors in and out of that place that there's no telling who it could have been, though, next time I'm in the office, I'm still going to walk the line of cars to see if any of them have any blue paint-marks on them. This makes the second time this year that somebody has clipped a vehicle of mine while it was parked and not had the decency to leave a note. In January, somebody creased the driver-side door of my 2014 pickup and didn't leave a note (that was about $1500 to fix). If I had driven my old pickup to work yesterday (which I almost did), and if it had it gotten clipped, I wouldn't have cared, if I had even noticed. -Pissed |

Just happened to me. Smashed the head light, hood, fender, bumper, etc in that area. Cost to fix? Probably more than the $1000 my car is worth. It sucks that people smash and run. I'd like a new headlight at the cost of whoever did it. The rest I can just suck up myself as an accident. |

I'm really sorry to hear that. It's so much worse when there's no one around to even say "sorry," not to mention the $$$ it takes to make things right. Plus, it was all your hard work that got messed up. Two years ago, my car got clipped so hard while it was parked that a wheel broke off. Luckily, the driver was far too drunk to run away. ![]() I stopped using that parking spot when I got my next car. A few months later, a tree fell on that same spot. |

Was walking down a city street recently and watched a charter bus attempt to pull into a spot that was just a bit too short, the tail end of the bus whacked the drivers front corner of a very nice, very new full size pickup parked at the curb to the level the pickup was literally bouncing and swaying. The driver go out, looked at the creased corner of the pickup, loaded up his passengers, got back in and drove away. What he didn't know is that I copied his information on a scrap piece of paper and tucked it under the wiper of the pickup, bet the bus driver is surprised when he gets back to the yard... It will be pretty hard to deny it happened with that blue racing strip on the back right corner of the bus. Edited by idmetro, Jun 26 2015, 03:35 PM.

When I lived in Chicago I came out one morning and the car two cars behind me was 1/2 gone. The car behind me was also probably beyond saving. My own car was shoved forward and pinned with the car in front. I didn't have any damage to my car, but I had to call into work until the van in front of me moved their vehicle. Certainly, no one left a note. I was just trying to imagine what they were driving to be able to leave the seen. When the cops showed up they pretty much said good luck, and stop wasting their time. I also saw someone leave a brand new moped parked length wise. I said to myself oh shit they're asking for it. I thought about moving it onto the curb, but that is a good way to get shot. The next morning someone, or some people had literally wrapped it around a tree. I believe in karma and falling pianos, but you can't wish it upon them, you just got to let it happen. This doesn't mean I wouldn't take action if I had the plates of the person or the names of the other people. |

the last time a car hit mine on a city street and booked, he left his front plate embedded in my rear bumper. the cops didn't have any problem finding the damaged car and it's owner. my problem was that he was a repeat drunken crasher with no insurance.

I've never heard of a parking spot being cursed, but that looks like what you have found!

I Still Have That Dent In My Right Rear Quarter Panel From That Toyota 4-Runner That Backed Into Me. I Still Have YET To Get That Fixed. No Thanks To The Lack Of Money And My Laziness Is The Reason My Dent Is Still There Even After 10-15 Or So Years. Idiots Will Always Go For The GEO METRO Or SPRINT When They Want To "Accidentally" Hit A Parked Car.

Snickers, do you have a project thread for your convertible? I couldn't find one. If you don't have one, I was wondering what you did to the interior pieces to make them darker/black. Did you paint them, or did they come stock that way? If you painted them, I'd love to know the brand of paint and process you used. I could have sworn I saw one that was black from stock, but maybe I'm crazy. How about the fabric? That dark blue color looks great with it. What color/brand body paint did you use on the car? I would love to see some more pictures, looks like an awesome car! Thanks. |
