I added right hand mirrors to both xfi's that I've owned. Prefer safety over mpgs. |

I know it was a cheaper car, but the rear defroster was optional. Of course, mine was ordered without one. Intermittent wipers should have been an option as well. I guess I can see not having the rear wiper, so they don't have to run a hose for it. I can do without a rear wiper. According to the chart above, they only came in teal and white. Mine desperately needs repainted. The drivers side and roof was redone, but the hood and passenger rocker is bad. The hatch and passenger side original paint is turning chalky, and my dirty handprints on the passenger fender near the hood don't want to wash off either. I wouldn't want the automatic or A/C anyway, even with a base or LSI. My dad's Chevelle didn't have a passenger mirror either. (BTW, he verified the original Quad 4-barrel is still in it). Honestly, I prefer to look over my shoulder, mirror or no mirror. I always do as good practice, especially after a couple close-calls in my blind spot. I am tempted to remove my passenger mirror to reduce drag. It's loose anyway. It's awfully hard to find a factory cap to cover the passenger mirror area. Only one on ebay is priced at $120, $10 shipping. Yeah right, good luck selling that! I put my best offer in at $10, with $10 shipping. We'll see how that goes.

Do you still have the factory plastic caps that go over the passenger mirror area from your XFI's? Thanks! |

RH mirror delete panels come up on here from time to time, just keep your eyes peeled. Someone was ordering parts directly from Japan and could get LH mirror deletes too. |

Turbo Dan-o added OEM mirror deletes to his car. Got new in the package. You might PM him and see where he got his from. |

The first thing is not to assume we know or in many cases even can possibly know the reasoning behind the decision to not include any item. It may or may not have been a fuel economy related issue. When you are predicting performance during the engineering/design stage you are attempting to account for weight down to the ounce, and it would have taken a whole lot of little plastic pieces to add up to that ~7 lb weight reduction in the XFi. ; It also may have been a cost-based decision. Or some other decision that we are unaware of. Maybe they did it just to mess with your mind 25 years later.

Looks like all Vert's were LSI's. No choice but to get A/C, Airbags and all the other luxury stuff. Why not offer a stripped Vert.....an XFI Ragtop?? |

It's not often the word "luxury" gets associated with a Metro of any trim level... ![]() Because they haven't made Verts or XFis since 94 and they probably scrapped all of the tooling long ago? ![]() Heck Ron, it's been almost a year now, you are probably ready for another major engine, transaxle, ECM, and harness (?) swap to turn yours into one... aren't you? I think it would be a very cool idea, but personally I wouldn't want to give any of my seat back breaking acceleration capability.

HELL NO! I just wanna drive the darn thing If i never have to pull another dash, thats fine with me! (Wish i had put in a new heater core while i had the dash out). Been a great runner so far. Closing in on 10k miles of trouble free driving (knock on wood) I'm actually planning a roadtrip to New England soon. Couple thousand miles by the time I get back home. |

Because the verts were built in Japan where they didn't have any of those cheapo parts. The airbags were mandated by US safety regulations, they're because the verts have no door frame, not to be fancy. Verts and LSIs are available without A/C, that was an option. LSI is mostly appearance stuff, flush headlights, painted bumpers, etc. |

Oh Woodie, come on. The idea that my LSi Vert meant "Luxury Stuff included" was just starting to grow on me. And you went and ruined it for me.
