Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

while i was welding the rockers and floor in my red twincam vert i was using scraps of galvanized steel from building furnace duct work.

i got a bad case of poisoning from that and thought i was going to die for a couple weeks. in all, it took about 6 weeks before i felt better. it doesn't take much of that yellow smoke to kill you! ;)

I was on the phone with turbotech last month. They no longer have braces in stock but are willing to make them to order. I was quoted a price somewhat higher than what you see listed on the website but I believe that included shipping (from Canada).
I called them 2 weeks ago and was told when there stock of Swift stuff was gone that would be the end of it...do you think we could put together a group buy on braces?

I would be up for one if we can get them. A discount would be nice as well! Lol

Just to update this post. I emailed Turbine Tech last night. They got back with me to let me know they have 7 or 8 of these left in stock and WILL NOT be making more when they are gone! No luck on a group buy either.

Here is the email that I received from Jess at Turbine Tech today.

Jess Tremblay <jess@turboms.com>

Hi Jay,

I have about 7 or 8 of these braces left. If anybody want to purchase one then it’s now or never. I will not build anymore of these in the future.

Your total including shipping will be US$279.00. Our paypal is jess@turboms.com

Regards.

The price he shot to me was shipped to Indiana so your price may vary...

I think we need to find someone else to make these for us! Maybe someone can take theirs to someone and get some fabricated??? I can't spend almost $300 on one, just seems a little outrageous to me...

These were on my wish list.

But.....if this is an end.
"...find someone else to make these for us!"

I am willing and capable to try to find another source for these parts at a better price.
I'd even be willing to purchase one of the last sets if that is what it took to get the details to reproduce or at least document for future fabrication. In fact it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for the MFG drawings (pending design ownership issues) to make easier the further availability of obsolete parts.

I have access to fabrication sheet metal shops. I have CAD, drafting and design skills. Also many sheet metal fabricators I deal with for my job.
The key is, prototypes are expensive because of the setup charges and the hassle of taking down their production line to make just a few of something.

If you guys are willing to work with me about the details of the part...I can get info on realistic pricing for ongoing orders.

Well, I was wanting one for my 98 sedan, can't afford it right now, so I'll have to go used if one ever shows up. I'd definitely be interested in the underbody brace at least, front upper brace would be nice but from what I've seen here it doesn't do as much.

I could make them out of steel easily if I had one to use as a template that's why I was hoping they were not so expensive
More lucrative at half that price

Thats what I was hoping for doviatt... I know there are many talented people on this forum and I figured someone would have the ability or means to make them a little more cost effective for the members here.

I just bought one for $279 plus shipping and I already have it on my vehicle. I gave the measurement to an aluminum guy I know, but just for a one off so he could fabricate it for himself. It is a fairly simple design and took him all of 3 minutes to get the measurements he needed. However to make more than one you would want a jig. I will say this that if you live outside the rust belt and don't drive like me you really don't need one.

Can someone get me some images or photos of- top, front, side. Also rough size and thickness. I need an idea how simple or complex this might be.
I'm guessing aluminum would be best for weight reduction and if designed correctly plenty strong.

That helps. Thanks.

Looks like it has been through a few design phases. Almost every photo is different. I wonder if the changes were driven by design improvements or cost reduction.

Looks like the purpose is to tie the left to the right and it sees compression and tension loads side to side.
Looks like there are no front mount to rear mount loads and the front to back is for stability and triangulation support and mounting.
