It's safer than a motorcycle! I think...

Buy a '95+ if you want to feel a bit more secure. I certainly do in mine. Of course, the 92 'vert it replaced really was a death trap, so it wouldn't take much to improve on that.

Great confidence booster, aren't I?

Eh, look at it this way...as long as you don't get T-boned on the driver's side, you'll be fine.
Not getting T-boned sounds good to me!

Take a defensive driving class with all the money you saved on fuel. My Metro was, at the time, the safest car I owned. Me and my newborn child survived over a year and a half in it without incident.
Ahahaha, i'm a bit new to this as i'm 25 years old, I would love to know where to take a defensive driving class!
I'm a very very cautious careful driver, but I can't say the same for idiots on the road...
Metro was the safest car at the time? According to some safety website it was rated the one of the highest for deaths in car accidents, but i'd love to be proven wrong!

I would rather die while living than live as tho I am already dead..........

If you are that afraid of driving a Metro then don't purchase one. Matter of fact If you are that afraid then don't ever get in a car. Sit at home watching TV and shiver every time you think of doing anything outside of your front door.
Nah, dude. I am letting go of a Kia rio 2003 i've been driving for 5 years or so, I just wanted a quick comparison of a geo versus some other cars in the safety aspects.

I drive a 93. My dad is one of those guys who always looks at the negative. When I showed him my car and told him it was the highest rated for FE he just said "and probably the least safe too" or some such. This is a guy who warns me to "be careful" e erytime I leave his sight. i'm 45 for chrissake. He's dying of Parkinsons from exposure to pesticides.seriously, every time you drive your metro you're gonna see someone riding a motorcycle and you're gonna feel so safe and secure and comfortable compare to that poor, unhelmeted, un air conditioned bastard, that it won't matter.

If you were happy with a Kia Rio for 5 years you would probably be happy with a late model 98-00 Metro. I believe they are very comparable safety wise. Both are smaller than 90% out there so it really falls on the driver to practice safe driving.

About a year and a half ago one of the members driving a swift had an F150 pull out in front of him. Hit it at about 50 mph.
