Well I missed day one of the TDF, but I guess not much happened. Day two begin in the Netherlands. WHAT???? I thought this was the TDF, not the Tour de Netherlands. Hmmm, globalization rears its ugly head, even in cycling sports.

Who will win today? I say Mark Cavendish has the best chance unless he falls off his bicycle, again.

Since I didn't catch the first day, I don't know the players yet. But since a lot of the "old Guard" has retired, the list of new faces will grow. I kind of like that, because year after year you only got to see the same guys riding.

Not to be a spoiler, but I'd say Mark Cavendish wouldn't win today ...but then it's 3pm Pacific and I saw the race this morning. :whistle

Day one, nearly always a time trial, er, ah, prologue.

Last 16 beginning locations of the Tour:
2015: Utrecht, Netherlands.
2014: Leeds, England.
2013: Porto-Vecchio (a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica.)
2012: Liège in Belgium,
2011: the Passage du Gois, France.
2010: Rotterdam, Netherlands
2009: the principality of Monaco.
2008: French city of Brest
2007: London, England.
2006: Strasbourg, France.
2005: Fromentine, France. .
2004: Liège, Belgium
2003: Paris, France..
2002: Luxembourg.
2001: Dunkerque, France.
2000: Futuroscope, France.

I see 8 out of the last 16 years it has started in France. On the other hand this should not shock any of us since it has started in other countries as far back as 1954 and there have been 21 of the 102 races (20.5%) started outside it's borders.

"It was the sixth time the Tour de France started in the Netherlands, after 1954 (Amsterdam), 1973 (Scheveningen), 1978 (Leiden), 1996 ('s-Hertogenbosch) and 2010 (Rotterdam). This is a record for a country that has no direct border with France."

Day 3. Chris Froome is in yellow. That guy is a stud. Fabian Cantularia(sp?) fractured his L3 vertabrea so he is out of the race. Bummer, I like that guy and figured he has a good chance to win the tour.

What's this I heard about Astana being suspended? Gotta look into that.
