So as many of you know im in limbo mode of moving houses one to another and i cant work on my GT project so i purchased this new game a little bit ago. I usually dont buy games hot off the market because its just way to much money for these games some times. The game i bought was called The Witcher 3 now i have never played the witcher 2 or 1 so i figured its new it looks cool whatever i got nothen better to do ill buy it. I got the game downloaded and fired it up, now a while back i build an over the top gaming rig so this game was perfect so i thought i needed to over clock my graphics card to maintain a stable 55+ frame rate at ALL ultra settings, super demanding game. This game is massive when i say massive i mean MASSIVE open world exploration game, the graphics are beautiful with wind rain snow sunshine night time moon phases and everything, trees hair leaves grass blow in the wind its just stunning what gaming has brought to this generations platform. A few points i might hit on this game were the story was epic involving the player in life and death situations, this game puts your morals as a person to the test. some times the choices you make are so powerful to the story it continues to affect you all the way, ive never played such a mature themed game ever this game is a true adults game with its story alone. this game managed to captivate me for over 160 hours on the first play through and every play through will be different because of the choices made in the game it will end different. the ending i got sucked a powerful king came to power with my help betrayed me and then went on a mass genocide of non humans, elfs, dwarfs, druids, mages, this king kills them all and the daughter to the main character you play Geralt is killed in the end. that is the ending i got this time around the game so get ready for wise choices next play around. i dont want to spoil the game for those thinking about buying this for pc ps4 or XB1. if you have been thinking about what next gen game to get i highly recommend this game for RPG fans, like i said 160 hours to beat it first time around, well worth the 60 bucks payed down on it. The reason i posted this about a game is because lets take SNES to 64 the jump was 3D graphics amazing the jump continued into even more digitally vibrant games on the next gen of games but i feel as tho the ps3 xbox360 generation was stale they didnt bring any NEW wow factors to the table for gaming really, but this generation kicked it hard so it seems, we got some good stuff coming out so for this game i did want to get the most out of its sexy graphics so i did some tweaks to get it to run good just thought id share this bit, i turned anisotropic filtering to 16X and AA settings to 32X with the delta textures to 8X super sample and im running the game 2 times the resolution of my monitor for better quality, i had to switch my graphics card to single display performance tho and over clock the GPU a bit, im using the 3GB 780FTW 2.0 ACX edition and it is powerful enough to handle this game even with the nividia phisX and nividia hair works setting on ultra. i was able to stay at 55+ frame rate nearly all the game some dips to 49ish most of the time was at silky 60 fps. i think most cards could run this game with great results for any one wondering to buy it or not, even if you cant play for the graphics the story would make you feel into the game alone it was that good. well bogus i tried to upload some pictures from screen shots of the game but i cant seem to figure it out Edited by ZXTjato, Jul 12 2015, 11:29 PM.

I've heard decent things about this game, but they may have been paid to say them. So I am unsure, but the graphics do look really good. I think most of the current gen systems (PC included if you are up to date) are really spectacular visually. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to dump into video games or the will to spend money on them. I find myself playing free to play games such as Hearthstone (good for breaks at work) and League of Legends (the rare weekend night I get on Skype with my friends). Other than that, games like this and Final Fantasy 14 just pass me by because I don't have the time to indulge into an expansive world. There are often times where I will go 3+ weeks without having ~30 minutes to continuously play a game. I am excited for next year when software really takes off. I am sure you are aware most developers are still supporting the PS3 and Xbox 360 with their games so they really aren't optimized for the PS4 or Xbox 1 yet. When they completely switch over and stop making online play compatible, you will see a massive difference in the games coming out. I don't think this applies to this game, but in general you get the idea. I try and keep up with the news on video games and things like Oculous rift and such. But the market is moving really quick for someone who really isn't 'in the scene' anymore. |

![]() THIS is a 'video game'. The kinds stuff that 30-year-old manchildren obsessively play now is little more than a never-ending, personal-growth-stunting, relationship-destroying, virility-sapping waste of life. JMHO.

games have come along way in the last 25 years, there is one thing that games today dont do that games of yesteryear did amazing and thats speed, games on the NES SNES and similar platforms were fast as lightning, what ever command you sent into the pad it was instantaneously bombarding your brain, analog signals and CRT tvs no moving parts and no massive things to processes made for some ultra speed gaming. games of today lack that speed when i play the witcher for example my CPU handles the physics of the weather the world the time and all the math stuff for crunching the data that takes time, the graphics card is storing massive amounts of texture data shader data and many many other things the witcher if you include the graphics card takes nearly 12 gigabytes to run and renders frames 2 or 3 in advance all this takes place in fractions of seconds and each frame is sent out to be processed again by the hardware in the TV for display. nothing like the old game days where only bits of data had to be crunched and those CRT tvs were 0 lag.... those were the days honestly

I still find a great amount of joy playing 'party' games or simple side scrollers most of the time. A simple game that you can pick up and play is more fun with a group. Mario is a great example of a game you can hand off, pause, and just have a relaxed good time while playing. It isn't as likely that you will hand off the controller in the middle of a dragon age quest or blood born boss.

I've been playing video games since the beginning. It is interesting to hear people describe how good the games are "now". This was some top of the line stuff back in the day: |

I remember when my buddy got the first NES I'd ever seen. This was 1985, and I was 10 or 11 years old. Compared to what had come before, namely the Atari, it was amazing. But, as revolutionary as it was, we honestly didn't play it very much. We spent most of our time hunting each other. With bows and arrows. That we made ourselves. Out of tree branches and shoestrings! Or we played football, rafted down the river, etc, etc. A game is something you play, put down, then play again some time later. It shouldn't be a full-time lifestyle, as some games are to many people (cough..Warcraft...cough). |

You really can't even make this argument anymore. There are so many YouTube personalities that literally make a living off of playing video games and it isn't something they can put down. Video games have actually transitioned into a career path due to the amount of entertainment available. Not saying I disagree with the statement, just want to point out that the world has definitely changed. |

There is another thing to consider as well. As more and more parents became convinced that the world was out to get their dear, innocent children, they stopped letting them roam free about the neighborhood. Kids had to find something to do and started immersing themselves into the games. |

Well, this is unfortunately more and more true from what I have seen though. Neighborhoods are not as safe as they once were. People aren't as close to each other as they use to be. A lot of it comes down to parenting. Now days the hands off approach leads children to be captivated by technology. My parent's weren't hover parents, they were barely around actually. I spent most of my days playing with Lincoln logs and Legos. I wonder if playing by myself with traditional toys was any better than playing on a phone? I guess the difference is I don't bust out of my Star Wars Lego set at Chilis and ignore the company sitting at the table with me.

On the flip side, you couldn't play Legos and such with friends that lived in another city. There are trade offs, both good and bad. |

This is very true. I spend more time online with friends than I do face to face. I have a few Army friends stationed across the world, high school friends that moved, college friends and even family that lives across the country. There is definitely a positive to online video games and such. I do think there is a line in here though. There are a lot of very socially awkward people my age now days and many of them are engulfed in their smart phones. That's really my big thing. |

and as games become more and more immersive its even harder to put them down. the realism in some games is shocking, it looks like CGI movie quality stuff but with real time rendering. also just as a side note star wars battle front looks pretty epic. it was ps2 game now its updated revamped and ready for this demanding generation. there are some other cool things coming out as well, i feel like ps3 era got so stale in its end life, almost like it was under powered after just a year and developers had to scale back some things. hopefully this generation can let game creators go wild, we got the ps4 XB1 and the new 900 graphics cards that hit the market, making for some sick performance hardware, 4k gaming is becoming real as more power is launched from hardware also. quite a lot of exciting things. |

oh yea and this generation is utilizing multi core CPUs for even greater gaming. yea older games kinda did this but it seems the norm now to use a quad plus processor |
