I'm having a misfire issue with my turbo Miata and I need a datalogger that will connect with my bluetooth OBDII adapter. Before I start looking around I figure I would ask for suggestions from you guys. Thanks!

I think the $5 Torque Pro Android app does data logging. I have used the free version for several different gauges and dials alongside fault code checking without issue. I believe the Pro version outputs .CVS datalogging that can be read in excel. It should make it pretty easy to see the misfire if you know what you are looking for.

My actual data logging experience is with eprom chip readers with real time on board computer modification capabilities, but that was also on OBD1 and cost about a hundred times what Torque Pro costs. I'm not sure what kind of ECU your Miata uses, but there may be some specific data logging support since the Miata is a very popular car for modifications.

Yes, the full version of Tourqe does logging. And please everyone stop using the free version. It's good, don't get me wrong but the pay version is WAAAAAYYY better. It's not just one of those apps where it's the same app just minus the ads. The pay version is a COMPLETELY different program with MANY more options.

I was a cheap ass just like you :P and ran the free version for a long time. I finale spent the $5 when I got a cheap tablet just for working on the car. (New tool! :banana ) And now I can say, I won't go back.

One of the neat things I like about it, is to set up different profiles in it for my different cars. It will automatically switch profiles depending on the OBD Bluetooth reader it sees. :rocker I put a reader in every car I own. It is very nice to get a call from the wife about a light poping on, and I can tell her to read me the code even when I'm not with her. Very easy decision then about whether she should drive it home, or wait for me to get there. And if i do need to read her car, my tablet automatically switches over to hers when I get near it.

And the track cam option.... Dashcam on steroids. B-)

I sound like a salesman. :shake To be clear I have NO affiliation with them, but, come on, it's only $5! :P

How cool is all that? Almost makes me want to go out and buy an OBD II Metro just to be able to use it.

Almost. :D

Or FREE...

:D :D :D

Yeah, I'm cheap but "crafty". I have never did a datalog with it (wasn't sure it would do it). I'll check it out tonight when the sun goes down a bit. Thanks!

I only have one car with OBD2 and I really just don't need any more than the free app offers. The car threw a P0420 code and I just wanted to monitor it to make sure nothing else popped up while I trouble shoot the code. I unplugged some sensors and sure enough those codes popped up, so that is basically what I am using it for. In the OBD1 days, cars would just flash the code via a LED in the dash and you would look up the number to tell you what was wrong. Prior to that, OBD0 (or pre OBD) had a LED mounted to the ECU that flashed continuously when there was a code.

I may still opt for the $5 full app because it is neat. But I really don't need it and I haven't had time to play with the full free app yet, so I haven't gained interest in the paid version.
