Ok so I went out to see a geo with the check list you guys have here. It was a auto, minimal rust. The gas pedal felt heavier than my Cavalier. The only problem I saw was that the frame horn on the passenger side has a hole about the size of my thumb. Think thats a deal breaker? He wants 900 for it. Its a 93 wiht 85K miles.

It's on it's last leg, imho, if the frame horn is rusting out. Who'd want to buy a car they know will die in a year or so? Maybe if it was a third what they were asking. And besides, I'd never buy an automatic Metro!

Well I mean, it does have a hole in the structural support for the entire car so yeah. It could be fixed if you know a damn good welder and have some money to throw at it (at least $300).

It would kind of be like buying a box with a live grenade in it. I wouldn't want to be holding it when it goes off :bananaburn

Not so sure I'd mess with it. The northern guys seem to deal with it on a regular basis tho.

maybe it's just the way i read it, but I think when he said "It would be a deal breaker for me..." that he meant "Yes, it would be a deal breaker for him."

And if you can already see a hole, remember there's a lot more rust inside you can;t see.

Just a suggestion, but find yourself one that isn't already on the way out. That way, you won't already have sunk a bunch of money into welding the frame before you find out the engine needs rebuilt, and you will have something solid to invest your money in instead of throwing it at a rusted dying chassis.

:evillol Aaronvincent said what he said because they do break.... while you are driving it. And when that happens things can get very ugly very quickly.

Keep your eye out for a great one, but offer this guy maybe $300 as a parts car. Yes its going to break, and hopefully not get you or yours killed in the process when the frame horn collapse's. There are some great bodys out there. You just have to want them bad enough to get where they are. I have 2 great body's a 93, and 95. The 93 is a 3/5 3dr. Needs an engine. It does not have one. Long story. The 95 is a 4 cyl, auto 3dr. Engine has issues.

Sounds like this car may break soon. Literally. Like, in half.

Structural rust on these cars is no joke.

Definitely don't mess with holes in the main structure. I've had a car lose a control arm while I was in it, it was scary! I got out safe because it happened at <10 mph. It could have happened 5 minutes earlier while I was doing 75 mph on the interstate and I probably wouldn't have been here today.
