Look at this beauty! :lol

Bought this a good while ago... old blow torch with a soldering iron. You can't see the the wooden handle, it's above the picture. I haven't actually tried to use it yet... seals and gaskets are probably bad. Will have to try it sometime soon, see how it goes.

So I practiced on some already ruined electronics I had laying around. The point on this iron is no good, because there is very little heat transfer. I have ordered a chisel tip to alleviate that problem. My God does it heat up faster than those crappy pencil ones I'm used to.

The chisel tip might be OK for removing stuff, but for soldering in a chip, the pencil tip should be OK. You don't want to kill the chip by overheating it. You don't need a lot of heat to get fresh solder to flow.
