My 94 geo metro has been bogged down and then turned off while driving one day. It has cranked and started once or twice since but only for about a minute. It won't turn over after that. I've replaced coil pack, distributer cap and plugs, pickup coil in distributor cap, rotor button. Nothing has worked. I've put starter fluid in the intake and nothing. Please help with suggestions.

As I'm doing all of this myself ( single mom) It is getting fuel. I don't know how to check for spark or timing. I don't have enough to take it to a mechanic. I know this post is very vague I just didn't know what else to try!

The engine needs fuel, spark and compression to start. You have tried adding fuel with the starting fluid and it has not helped. If you have some one that can help you crank it over, remove one of the spark plugs and put it back into the spark plug wire. Hold the end of the spark plug (you may want to use a pair of pliers with a rubber grip on the handles to keep you from getting a shock) against a good metal ground. Crank it over and see if you notice a spark. May be easier to do it after dark to make it easier to see the spark.

So it is getting a spark!!
Is it continually getting a repeated spark or just a few then stops getting a spark?

That's good.

Have you ever checked for compression before? Most auto parts stores loan out tools if you don't have one.

I have not. I'm guessing it's a fuel compression tool? That's the name of it?
