About a week ago I noticed my car began to hop slightly at speeds from 10mph to 40 mph, but only in the rear. I thought this was odd because I had just installed new struts/stabilizer links back there. I figured it was just the suspension settling but something didn't sit right with me. I took the car in for an alignment (because of recent suspension work) and it came back perfectly aligned but it still did the odd little hop. I put it in the back of my mind and got on the freeway to go home. Once I got home I had the feeling I should crawl underneath my car and when I did What a surprise I got! My guess is the previous owner drove the car with horrendously bad struts for so long that the force from the constant bouncing actually began to tear the sidewalls apart Needless to say, it got a full set of new tires today...Make sure to inspect your tires and suspension components regularly GMF, it could save your life. I'm surprised

people around here LOVE those tires because they love letting them loose on the highway for chunks of tire to liter every foot of road, its a popular thing to do here, on my drive to work i can guarantee ill see 3>5 flats, i have hit more of those stupid parts of rubber than bugs have hit my window, one of those parts of tire broke my side skirt on my car. do i hate people having blow outs? you bet i do. thanks for not being dumb

Looks like you came extremely close to unleashing a Goodrich Gator to lay out on the side of the road to get some sun. Glad you caught it, and thanks for that sober wake up call to check our tires better than just a quick look at the outside.

I had one of the RAM tires balanced at a shop; "that took a lot of weight" they said. Well, it had a giant flat spot and they didn't see it. It actually was then worse after the balance. |

Right Now I'm Nursing An Imbalanced Right Rear Tire On Francisca - I Feel A Bad Vibration Starting At 45 MPH And It Gets Worse Going Faster. I Can Only Go Up To Around 65 And Believe Me It's Real Bad At That Speed. Mine Are The Kumho 155/80/R12 Tires. I Think There's Too Much Excess Rubber Starting At The 5:00 O Clock And Goes To About The 8:00 O Clock Position On My Right Rear Tire. And I Won't Put It On The Front, That Would Be Horrible. I Think They're Out Of Warranty Now And Because I've Been Driving With It Like That For A While. Nothing Like Your Sidewall Split Though. Glad You Caught Yours On Time Though. |
