Tryn Hard!!

For some odd reason right after I bought my 2000 metro my ebrake light has stayed on... the ebrake is released all the way, I don't think I hear any scrubbing and I don't seem to be slowing down so I'm pretty sure the ebrake is released fully... my brake fluid is completely full... I've tried playing with the float in the brake fluid container... um I have tried raising n shoving the ebrake handle up n down thinking maybe something is stuck but that didn't work either, so idk what else to really check on this one.

Just my .02..first pull the plug on the master cylinder...still on?
remove center console and check parking brake switch...someone might have messed with it so the daytime running lights will not come on...

^this

Maybe the parking brake switch under the console has been grounded to kill the DRL system.

I suppose following the FSM functional check in section 8A-41, Electrical Diagnosis Brake Warning and using the applicable diagnostic chart is out of the question? :whistle

Sounds like years of crud and possibly a spilled soda or two have gummed up the parking brake switch keeping it closed. I have also seen it happen that a foreign object (ballpoint pen, piece of gravel, etc...) got wedged in the switch or bent the ear. I bet if you clean it up all will be well.
