hey guys, I have a new problem with my Geo. Got the AC figure it out, got the water pump in the timing belt okay, but now I have a light issue and I need some help. I got a 96 LSI and the problem seems to be some kind of dead short or component failure. The right headlight will stay on and drain the battery if it is left plugged in and it fails to work during operation. The flasher on the right side also does not work, can anybody give me any pointers its not the column switch. delight literally stays on with the key out of the ignition. So I have to drive it with the right headlight unplugged and then its ok the battery stays hooked up and the radios has its memory and everything is good. Just the right light

Do the DRL's work correctly or is not right either?

Not during operation. It will barely flicker when the right turn signal is activated

I'm a little confused. The right headlight doesn't work when turned on but comes on and stays on when turned off and with the key off. Is that right?

Your right hand turn signal doesn't work either? So you have 2 different problems right?

You are correct. When I activate the right flasher during operation both the light and turn signal flicker

If there is a flasher unit I don't know where it is

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

the flasher is on the top of the fuse rack on the left side of the passenger cabin up under the dash.

the way the flasher works is that the contacts close and send current to the bulb until a heater, which passes the same circuit current, causes a bi-metallic spring to flex and cause the contacts to open. the bi-metal cools off and the contacts close again.

since you don't have the problem on the other side i'd bet that you have a bad ground or a rusted lamp socket for the turn signal fixture.

the bayonet type socket has a center terminal that's spring mounted and it touches the center contact for the bulb. the outside of the socket is the ground and there's a ground wire that is wedged between the steel socket and the plastic housing. it's a pinch type contact connection. sometimes the socket corrodes or the copper wire corrodes and causes a bad circuit connection.

sometimes the only thing that helps is a new turn signal assembly.
