Nope, it's done.
My mommy told me I'm not allowed to play with Mikey any more.

Putting this on the list of things to do on my car. Too bad that list is long and never seems to get any shorter. I do tend to research things like this before doing them to try and find the best way to go about it. MMM's recommendations do look good.

This is the situation where every forum needs a Transporter Button that could materialize both of you on neutral turf so you could meet each other in person and deal with your differences like we used to do before "Progress" largely took the option away. :shake

Mikey & I had a difference of opinion and we met face to face before the 2015MMM; it turned out to be an Internet Misunderstanding. I was pleased to learn that he didn't have horns and a forked tail and he found out that I didn't either....

It's surprising sometimes how much can be lost in translation in written communication. It leaves it up to our own interpretation which we can take completely out of context... Not saying people don't poke the bear once in awhile, just maybe not as much as we think...

On a side note, I have read into the remote start a little before and found the same thing as posted earlier. The story about having the car running when you exit, then the remote start shuts it off, then if any door is opened, it disables the remote start. Sounds safe but I never shut the car off in gear anyway...

I remembered reading a thread from a while back, which I just dug up...

Remote power locks + Remote Ignition; A little of the 24th century to my geo by sheananigans.

They describe a neutral safety switch plate... thing... they created for their remote start.

all you have to do is tie the clutch position switch closed, and install the starter system as usual. just dont leave your car in gear, and don't let anyone else park your car because they will leave it in gear.

Hey, Mightymouseman, Can I just take the clutch switch out of the picture?? like unplugging it and or jumping the connector? or somehow just taking the thing offline so to speak?? I don't need it to be safe to turn the key
thx in advance for your expertise

You could. It would be simple to unplug the 2 wires and connect them together to override the clutch switch. Lots of cars were sold without them years ago, and it wasn't a huge problem for most people.

I do not disagree one bit with the implication that the decision to drive a convertible is not the most prudent considering the rollover implications, yet that was not the issue being discussed, was it?

Avoid and deflect, avoid and deflect, avoid and deflect...

Some people just seem to have very different styles when it comes to the concept of dealing with simple, direct questions as they relate to learning, verifying factual information, and discussing technical issues, that's for sure. :hmm
The article addressed everything except the facetious argument about "what if" you left the window open and someone came along and shoved it into gear. I don't really feel like it deserves an answer. Since you like that type of question, how can you justify being comfortable with a system that counts on a pair of switches as suggested by EVMetro? Couldn't one or both switches fail and then the car start while in gear?

A more logical question is why the engineers that designed a product automatically don't meet your standards? I expect that if their safety systems didn't work we'd be reading about cars crashing and the product would be recalled. Instead there are multiple companies selling the exact same alarm on eBay and Amazon and I'm sure plenty of other places as well. Considering how bad the installation instructions are, I suppose it's possible that none of them were successfully installed, which could be a safety feature all its own.

I'm going to ask you nicely, stop trying to pick a fight with me. I am not and will not be ok with you implying that I am too stupid to answer a simple question or that I'm somehow duplicitous and just "avoid and deflect " when a question is too hard for me or whatever it is that you believe. I am well and truly done playing your little "who's smarter" games. Go find another hobby or victim to fill your time, and leave me alone.
It is kind of interesting to read, but it really does get old. I feel like I'm right back in high school. I think you guys just need to meet and have a fight to ease all the forum tension. :P

Edit: And video tape it!
