So it was raining and I am out building my fence but I couldn't figure out why she is just laying in a puddle, in the rain.

Posted Image

Working along

Posted Image

Cover up the welder with an amazon box :lol

Posted Image

This is a stay closed handle I made from some all thread I found in a construction dumpster, and some pipe I found on the ground near by. The washers were part of the dumpster score also.

Posted Image

So the gate stick holds open, and holds closed.

Posted Image

So here is my home made dumpster dove parts coat rack, made from some displays that were being tossed out at work, some paint and bam, now I can hang a coat.
Posted Image

And my front gates are done

Posted Image

And here is a shot from the back.
The last thing I need to do on this side is locking system and gate sag tweaking and this is done, now I start the back.

So i know i have not posted in a while but i have been very busy doing things because it will get hot pretty soon. I have been taking pics and things to show every one so im going to post up some of the things that have gone on in the last month or so. I am going to start where i left off at the front man gate...

Posted Image

So here is a door handle and a weld in box for the handle parts, i flipped the stride plate around and made a metal slammer on the other end of it so that way the gate can be used for many years as the wood shrinks and expands the metal sections are what actually come into contact with each other. This gate is also keyed to the house so one key fits all the doors in the house.

So since i have 1 single free standing 4x4 post it is way to flexible to hold a 6 foot gate on one side and a 3 footer on the other side. i was dumpster diving and found this table so i stuffed it in the back of the geo and started to cut it up for use on my fence. I cut the metal at a 45 degree angle the best i could with a grinder then used a ratchet strap to hold the 2 posts i wanted to be more square together and took measurements for a "header" of my gate.

Posted Image

The table made a great header so i used a sander disc on the grinder and sanded all the paint off of it and this is how it will rust and weather in to look fairly normal.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

then i added some cross boards to the gate because as the vertical boards started to dry up they were twisting bad and leaving gaps in the gate that i didnt like, so i had some banana boards that were so bent out of shape they could not go on the fence vertical sooooo here we are put the boards there :thumb

Posted Image

now we have some other project, this is some test fitting for an air conditioner unit on the game room because you know game rooms with monster computers can roast you out in no time. I did not want to use the stuff that comes in the kit for the ac because i wanted a tighter seal and a more permanent fit but also a fit that wont put holes in the window frame or house.

Posted Image

its sealed, painted and secure. only need to remove 4 bolts to undo the AC unit from the window frame, and there are no holes in the wall or any thing, its all held in place by its own pressure.

Posted Image

and i will tell you it works like a champ when the gaming gets tough B-)

Now this is not much to do with any thing but i have a bit to share because this is a super funny story and only geo guys will understand

Posted Image

so the night before this happened i had installed my brand new engine and washed then waxed my car. i went to work and the requirement was to park in the back 10 dirt lot, since i get there very early i went out there and as we all know geos are bomb in mud and snow. i was on my brand new engine and just having a little fun playing around in the mud not going over about 2000 rpm and no hard throttle movements, so i was being super gentle in the mud while i played around. now the funny part as i was out playing around in the mud another employee that works next door came out and went to the middle of the field and stopped, in my mind i thought why would they park at the middle of the mud lot, when i finished playing around i drove to the gate because i did not want my employees parking in the mud today so i would wait for them by the gate and direct them to park on the pavement. as im sitting there that truck is now slightly sideways in the lot and i am watching it and i see reverse lights then no lights then reverse again and it was moving a little bit and i knew right there they were stuck in the mud. I drove out in the field and pulled up to the window of this silverado and i roll my window down they roll their window down and i asked the lady "are you stuck?" and she went off on my like crazy. "how can that piece of shit not get stuck and my boy friends truck get stuck and how shitty this was and she is late for work and this and that". i was rather offended by this so i took off did a showy off style drift around the truck and pulled back around and asked calmly "do you want some help?" she looked out the window and said "yea" so i drove around and got a few guys in the metro then drove back out to the mud hole and we pushed the truck out then piled back in the non stuck metro and we were on our way. now remember this is all on a brand spanking new engine that i had 1000 RPM of use out of it were talking less than 75 miles here and im out having fun not getting stuck :rocker

Posted Image

here is the hole she dug

Now this issue of the mud came around a few weeks later as my engine was more and more able to run harder, as i was able to go faster on the free way i had this awful vibration and i thought i bent a rim while playing in the mud or on my trip up fish creek. but it turns out this is why the wheel was out of balance.

:lol

Posted Image

:hmm bit heavy on one side dont you think?

so after the mud incident it was still in break in mode so we went on a little trip up fish creek to see some things and continue the break in.

Lets get back to the program here, so since the AC is so successful in the game room my room mate needs an ac also, the main idea behind having so many units is to keep the house unit at say 85 and then you can use the mini unit for single spot use, and when your done turn it off and then turn it on in another room etc. so here is the unit for my room mates room.

Posted Image

the second room is all cleaned out, only reason im taking on a room mate is because i owe my dad some money and i want to build my shop faster and the extra money will help a lot.

Posted Image

the door is still functional and you can close the screen when the weather is cooler this unit is in place with pressure also, and only has 4 bolts holding it to the house, so the door frame is unharmed, its fully insulated and the drip for the ac is level so it should not drip at all because the dry pan is so level.

so i got lucky because my mom got a new fridge and i am not one to share so my room mate gets her very own refrigerator, and one single pbr as a sign on bonus :beer

Posted Image

so since the back room got cleaned out i had to build some shelving units to hold all the stuff that was in the room, as the sheds and shop gets organized this pile will shrink down because its mostly car parts, a lot of these car parts are off of garys RHD metro that was crashed a few years ago.

Posted Image

So now the back yard is in need of a fence also and i know every one is sick of seeing miles of wood planks but so am i :coffee
here i have a picture left and picture right of the back fence all finished up.

Posted Image

left side of yard...

Posted Image

the right side... as you can see there is still the other side of the yard to do, we are not done fencing yet, still have plenty to do. I have all these bricks im going to brick the bottom of the fence because if you look close i built it about 6 inches higher than the dirt just because i want that extra privacy.

so i have been working on my house nearly daily but i have not posted because i just have not had much time and i been busy doin stuff.
i saw T3ragtops post about his house and Mt99999s house project and i figured ill add some pictures again and keep the post going for a bit, plus the lounge has been sorta stale the last few weeks so ill give you guys something to look at for a bit.

Posted Image

the 4 large oliander trees are gone, the prickle tree is gone and so it all the other plant and fence material between me and the guy next door.

Posted Image

you can see his pile of junk but im perfecly fine with it because i have my own piles of junk on my side also. this spot is where im building my car port so that way i can stash some cars here in the back and they can be out of the sun to some degree, my uncle gave me some tin to do this and thats where the material is coming from.

Posted Image

we got together and since he has a bull dozer the weeds and humps in the yard were taken care of in about 2 seconds, then he has 4 tons of spare decomposed granite that he wanted to dump between our yards and i was more than down for that.

Posted Image

so here is some free 99 fence poles i got, what i did was sink some 12 foot treated lumber into the ground as far as i could dig and used the motor oil to treat the poles against rot and termites, then i used bag after bag of cement to anchor them to the ground the ones on the back and the one on the front here. I took my hole saw and drilled a hole into the 4x4 post then ran my pole through it cut off the end 6 inches from the wood then pounded the pole into an L shape and screwed it to my post, this holds the pole to the 4x4 wood. After that i made a bracket and welded it all together so the pole and 4x4 are pretty much 1 unit.

Posted Image

here is the tin set on top for testing purpose, the back side and left side of my structure is my fence and the right side is my shed so its pretty protected from the weather, its good enough to park my spare metro samurai and MG there, the roof is about 6 foot 8 so its not very tall but its tall enough for some small metros :)

Posted Image

so here we are and yes i know it sags, i was up there messing around putting the tin on and i bent the entire thing with my weight plus all the metal i put up there :banghead so all this was free material, i only spent like 12 bucks on self tap screwes and some welding wire. I brought home lots of metal from work and welded it back together because you know the metro is only so long and i can only haul so much at a time, it was every day full car loads of metal for a week straight :rofl I have a plan to fix the sag and make the water run off to the front side of the building because i have access to some 1000 gallon and 750 gallon holding tanks from work, if i can get them home.... any way id like to make a water catch to save rain water off this thing when it does rain thats why i want the water to drain to the front not the back, i know it sounds weird but i shall see if it works, when i fix the sag ill be sure and post it. Now that summer is in full swing lets head inside and see some work.

I got to see the Homestead in person while home, and I have to say Tanner has a cool place, with nothing but potential ahead. Thanks again for the car port wrenching, the awesome food and great company.

thanks gary it was very fun hanging out sorry its taken so long to post pics but you know how we are round here pics or it didnt happen.

So here we are inside the house and since my house is full of heavy gamers, my Girl friend and i met in a video game many years ago, and my room mate is a gamer also, i had to expand my gaming room to starship enterprise status.

Posted Image

this is crap right here, no one wants to game on a tiny crappy desk i made from termite hole wood and some corian that was in the trash, so lets fix this gaming set up to be even more bad ass than it already is. we have to upgrade computers and make this thing the ultimate command center.

Posted Image

test fit on how big i want this side and some angle testing.

Posted Image

bigger? :thumb

Posted Image

faster? :thumb

Posted Image

MORE power :thumb

Posted Image

and a place to set it all on? what on earth are we doing ;)

Posted Image

so this thing is massive and weights like 150 pounds, there was no one around to help me lift it into place, so i used some tv tables and geo metro rims and a tire to lift it up get it all centered and every thing so i can bolt it to the wall, was very funny i would measure then i needed to find and item that was exactly so and so thick, then id add some more and more stuff to get it all set up and level, what a funny situation but i did it.

Posted Image

how about that did it all by myself and what a pain to do, my moms husband would have helped me bolt it up but hes working a lot and doing drills for the military so i did not want to add one more thing to his list of things to do.

Posted Image

this table was mostly free wood, i only bought the top layer of finish wood and that was about 9 bucks the finish was like 6 or so and the pvc pipe was pretty cheap so over all a hard wood finish cherry desk for nearly free is not bad at all. huge thanks to my moms husband dave for helping me get the cherry trim on and get it on straight and the angle correct. my pc sits on some pvc scrap and a sheet of acrylic that was trash from my work, i used some clear epoxy to epoxy the trash acrylic together and make it a sizable sheet for my pc to sit on, now i can put stuff under it if i want AND it makes cable management easy.

Posted Image

Posted Image

her PC got a huge upgrade to a tri GPU system using 2 gtx 780 for the win edition graphics cards in sli and one GT610 to run her extra monitors.

Posted Image

her set up is finished, she has the large 62 inch for watching tv from the sofa, her main gaming monitor is an asus 1440 monitor and one 1080 on the right for other stuff, the 1080 monitor did not have a stand so i made one from you guessed it, more junk from the back yard and you would never know i made the stand from trash, i needed it to line up with the main gaming screen so custom tv stand was the only way to go.

so today since it was only 107 i needed to get out and get some work done, im tired of running the house unit when all i want is my bedroom cool, my mom gave me this unit and its way to big to fit in the window so i had to do some mods to make it external and get it all squared up in a bracket to get the cold air in.

Posted Image

i know its pretty ugly seeing all the foam bubbling out but i will trim it up and get it painted to match the rest of the ac units on the house, i bought some oops paint from home depot that was very close to what my house color is.

Posted Image

i know its ugly but ill get a curtain on it and make an air flow thing from chloroplast and it will look much better, but hey when its super hot out to sleep this is better than nothing.

Cool. I have sometimes thought about replacing my Radeon HD 6970 video card but to my knowledge it is still one of the very best PCIe 2.0 cards out there. And PCIe 2.0 is all my computer supports, 3.0 is backwards compatible but would gain nothing. In fact, I've been solely using my laptop hooked up as a desktop for the past month or so after my gaming computer got buggy(too busy to reinstall it). Hope that upgrade is worthwhile.

From the north I can hardly imagine living down there. 70 is warm, 80 is hot, and 90 is HOT here. 107 :O .

corruplast(yes I probably spelled it wrong too): plastic cardboard.
chloroplast: place in a plant cell where photosynthesis occurs.

:rofl good catch, i had wondered about the spelling of it, im glad the message got across, and you know i should have known how to spell that because i work at a botanical garden and deal with plants daily so its sorta like :smackface

wow an old radeon ^o) not bad if your not hard core into gaming, i personally just upgraded to the Zotac 1080TI amp extreme, its a triple slot card with a MASSIVE cooler on it and its stupid fast, when i say stupid fast i mean stupid fast, all games at 4k ultra settings over 60 fps and some games at 8k over 60fps like elderscolls online, diablo 3, renegade ops, starcraft and heros of the storm i run at 5831X3055 resolution in the 150fps range and due to this heat in arizona its worth having such an efficient card because it only draws 320 watts and stays nice and cool under heavy gaming loads up to 2000+ MHz

i've noticed that the weather channel has been reporting temps between 110* and 120* for your location. i don't know how you work in that heat. 85* to 95* here sure takes the starch out of me. ;)

They always say its a dry heat out there, here we have so much humidity that you sweat just walking outside. I'm sure it's still hot out there though.

Great progress on the house! The projects never come to an end when you own a house. Sometimes you get caught up, but then there is always something else that pops up.
