that would make the house more healthy, bugs and bacteria are natural in dirt. plus the foam spray wont stay wet for a long time like dirt. ill do some internet searching on that, because while i got it open i would lile to fix the issue. |

be real careful with expanding foam and tubsets, back when I was doing construction (electrical) I saw several tubs pop out of place due to expanding foam. that stuff packs a lot of energy that needs to go some where. if it bothers you I would use sackcrete. |

yea woodie it is a lot of power, but its endless hot water and saves power long term because its no longer hot in stoage. check it out.![]() here it is, sarah contacted an old friend to come and install it for us, i didnt do much but i think i learned something. he put it up nice and high so i dont wack my self on it all the time, im a tall guy and i want tall stuff in the house shark bite elbows and ball valve shut offs, no more gate valves (i hate gate valves)![]() so the tanless hete is around the size of a cerial box the tank heater is well, huge. and now that its gone lots of free space ![]() something funny about the heater leak is that it spawned mushrooms, i had tons of mushrooms growing out of the wall, i called it the secret garden, the leak of warm water in the nice dark laundary room spawned lots of weird decomposers i poked a large hole in the wall (with my foot) and sprayed some bleach around then set up the fan again, its drying out extreemly fast and should be ready to service with new dry wall mold blocker stuff and do a good clean up of the infected wood. i dont like mold it makes me sick.![]() going back to old post about the gate i had made with the removable section. sarah and i were able to take the section off its bolts but the thing had settled a bit so it was tighter than i had it, guess ill drill the holes bigger. any way the GT was able to be backed right in there, i used my car to push it while she steered the gt car. this is where its kinda going to live while the blue car is made into its final stages. ![]() the blue car now gets its space back, i am still wrapping up the fence around the car so i can have a private work shop i still need to build a few shelfs (have the wood already) and i want to screen in the car port. almost getting back to my project. still just ordering parts and stuff tho. That tankless system is awesome! I bet it cost a pretty penny I definately want one of those one day. Do they all run on 240V? Are there natural gas versions?Gate valves are buggers! A lot older fashioned, and they tend to not get as tight of a seal over time and develop slow leaks. Ball-valves are probably the way of the future. The only thing that I don't believe in are shark bites. I worked with them a lot, and while they are easier, they seem temporary, not permanent. I've seen them break apart and leak before. I believe in good old-fashioned soldered copper!

the tankless heater was $678 for a 27KW unit. gas tankless heaters are better for you northern folk because the water coming out of the ground is colder, remember tankless needs to instantly heat whatever temp comes out of the ground at whatever flow rate you have. shower at like 2GPM with a 60° rise for example. the water here is never cold enough, been showering with the garden hose and its just not cold enough really. |

I have been using a gas one for about 8 years now. Its a Takagi Jr. Works perfect. As long as it has enough flow. |

Hmm, they must be getting more affordable. That doesn't cost a lot more than a high-quality 40 gal. tank gas water heater. I imagined a price tag of over $1,000! Hopefully the gas ones are priced as well or better. After 7 years of sitting, the water tank in my house was still full of water with no leaks when I got it, so it might be good. I'll think I'll get tankless one like that when mine bites the dust. How do you like it?

![]() not a large update but ita hot outside a progress is here and there, im kinda bouncing around projects dependant on help available energy level and temperature outside. the living room is getting painted a light gray color, sarah got a few gallons of the paint and primer in one bear stuff and started on the living room while i was outside building the fence. ![]() so the fence on the back side of my shop portion is 13 feet long, a real odd number so i used some boards stacked like this then all braced up with screws and the planks, its weird but strong for a long distance span. the board however was twisted so i added the vertical 2x4 scrap so i could muscle the thing straight clamp it down then screw it tight. If you will soak the board with water then retighten the screws after it dries it will relieve the tension in the board and be less of a chance of it splitting in the future. |

![]() so we got a fence post that was I think 8 foot tall, long what ever. it was about 2 inch around. then I got a floor mount for those cast pipes that have threads the 1 3/8 inch pipe fit inside the pipe just great. originally I wanted to have the home depo guy thread the end of the pipe so I could thread it onto the floor mount but they wouldn't do it, so sarah just said what if a smaller one fit inside yea that works great because it had a slight taper and I was able to really mash it on there. it only holds the vertical pipe from kicking out. got a cement drill bit and some cement anchors. cut the flange thing off on the side drilled the holes mounted it up and boy its solid, never realized how strong those anchors are ![]() now the top got a 2x4 wedged on top of it to keep it from flying up just incase it wanted to fly it wont, then a U bolt through the rafter to hold it from going side to side. this pole is good enough to dance on ![]() here is the pole on the side of the house, the gate will close here with a latch or something to keep that white fluff monster from my car shop. ![]() so I finished up this side of the fence and the last part is to make a gate, never made one before so ill have to search online and get ideas. it got dark so I moved inside ![]() got a new quarter turn valve to replace the valve on the toilet that wouldn't shut off tore out the toilet and vanity. the new toilet is the one we brought home in my car a few pages ago. the vanity needs to be freshen up because it has paint on it and its falling apart, little work and it will look good as new. Thanks for posting the pictures first! I'm sure it wasn't the intention, but I got to scale the page down to half, look at the pictures, then refresh it and read the text full-size! ![]() What is the pole for? Does the carport roof not have enough support? |
