Im converting my 91 base headlights to lsi headlights. Ive got bulbs and sockets and am looking to wire it into my current setup. On the passenger side the clip has a red, a white with red stripe and a red witha white stripe. My concent was to clip a wire and turn on the low then high. If the low beam does not come on.. Walaa it would be the same for if i had cut the high beam wire. Am i close / have the concept down?

Did you get the stock lsi sockets? It will be color for color. But as you look down from above down on the socket. On the passenger side it goes left to right: red, red with white stripe, white with the red stripe. On the driver's side. Red, red with white stripe, white with blue stripe.
I did a post when I did zippy's swift lights, it the same concept.
Good luck

the bulb for the sealed beam is different from the bulb for the composite headlight.

what i suggest that you do is to google the configuration for both headlights. then consult the factory service manual for your car to identify the headlight wires. then connect the new lamp sockets so that the pins are correct for the new bulbs.

i'd also suggest that you do the research first before you start making connections willy nilly. the wiring on these suzuki variants is different from most cars and the headlights are controlled by switching the ground side not the positive side. if you screw up there's a very real chance that you will burn up the combination switch.

ask me how i learned that. :smackface

Im seeing this as a challenge.i do not have an fsm yet and im thinking if i design a wiring schematic to work with my ideal setup, i could wire low beams, high beams, and fog lights, and make them street legal and inspectable in PA. Will update when i draw schematic.

As someone who has had schooling in wiring diagrams and who has also done alterations to the wiring in this car and others, I would not change anything major, like the headlights, without having the factory wiring diagram in hand and actually on paper so I could be sure what I was doing.

Here would be my concept. Go from battery to a three way switch on the dash. Have setting be off/low/ high. Have a second switch tapped into the low beam wire with a T to supply power to the fog lights. This would allow the fog lights to only come on when the low beams are on and would make it impossible for them to come on when the high beams are on. I would use in guessing 8 or 10 gauge wire should be sufficient. An inline fuse after positive terminal on battery, in the low beam positive wire, and in the high beam poisitve wire to make it very safe from shorting out. I would ground the log lights to the body as well as the headlights with new hardware. If i avoided tapping in to the factory setup i would avoid a lot of issues compared to wiring it straight to the battery correct? Any thoughts?

If i just unhooked the connector and ran my own switches and wires, i would not be miswiring; i would be removing the factory setup alltogether and doing it my own way. Its a lot easier for me to add a 3 way switch and 2 way switch on the dash then it would be to possibly overload the stock setups wires with the high temp sockets and high draw bulbes and need to replace it all or pieces if i mess up. If i run it independently would it not avoid thoose hassles? It may not be visually appealing but it would function and be safe would it not? Im not seeing any obvious flaws in my design yet, tapping in to the factory wiring seems to be a whole can of worms i can avoid opening if i just bypass it.

I am sure there is a wiring diagram right here on the forum in the library section. Look under the 1994 FSM. I'm not going to link you to it like the other members would. Too much work... :lol

I had a change of heart. Here, I'll be generous! :lol

As a matter of fact, scroll down a few posts, and there is a post from another member telling you what all of the colord wires mean! :cheers

I saw that particular post before. The colored wires hes referring to are for the radio harness. I am attempting to make my lights brighter not louder. I could not find anything on that thread referencing headlights.

Whoops... I didn't read the post very closely! :lol

There is bound to be some kind of wiring diagram in the library.

I could not find in in the fsm. I checked 08B lighting and horn but could not find any diagrams in the book at all.
