That it is. And to be clear, it's only for a 1994 XFi with Federal Emissions. 33920-60E54 GM Fitment Codes: MS (EXC NB6, NG1) Translated = XFi (excluding California Tier 1 and Geographically Restricted Registration emissions) 89-91 XFi Federal Emissions: 33920-60B46 (replaced models -60B40, -60B41, -60B42, -60B44, and -60B45) California Tier 0 Emissions: 33920-60B66 (replaced models -60B60, -60B62, -60B63, -60B64) 92-93 XFi Federal Emissions: 33920-60E63 (replaced model -60E62) California Tier 0 Emissions: 33920-60E54 (replaced model -60E53) 94 XFi Federal Emissions: 33920-E61E60 California & Geographically Restricted Registration Emissions: 33920-60E54 Correct ECM/PCM applicability for any Metro can only be determined by the model number (e.g., 33920-50GE0). Most models through 1996 and a few in 1997 had at least one superceded version, and some as many as seven. Edited by myredvert, Sep 12 2015, 05:19 AM.

Thanks, Mike. This is good info. Where did you come by it? A couple of questions: 1) when you say "only" what does that mean? Does that mean if I threw it in my 1993 CA XFi that something bad would happen? Or does it mean if I wanted to register it in CA it would need a CA ECM? (Actually, come to think of it, I don't even know if my car is a CA car, just that it spent most, if not all, of its life there.) |

I copied all the ECM/PCM data from several GM databases - most recently using my new favorite - GMPartsEast.com ECM/PCM data is located in Section 00 Engine, component subsection Engine Electrical (# varies by models) 1994 example here: GMPartsEast.com 1994 Metro Section 00 Engine Component 4. 1989-1994 M (08-68-67) Engine Electrical (except turbo and GSi models) "Something bad happen?" Doubtful. There are more than enough examples of Metros running around with incorrect ECM in them to indicate "bad" would be an appropriate descriptor. Not operate correctly is more like it. "Wrong" ECM would be more reasonable. And mixing CA emissions models with Federal Emissions models seems like it would be "more wronger." ![]() Over the past several months while I have been verifying data tag information I have found plenty of computers for sale on Ebay and the like that are being sold as the wrong year, model, etc. And several that have more than one application that aren't indicated as such. You should be able to look up under your dash behind and above your junction block and see what the ECM model is. |

OK, 10-4, thanks Mike. The ECM came out of what I remember being a 92 XFi at the junkyard but I was in such a hurry pulling stuff off of it, my memory isn't to be trusted (found it an hour before closing time). Also, once I checked the code on the block it turned out to be a 95 engine. I can't remember if I checked the VIN, but definitely didn't record it. I don't suppose you have a database for paint colors for various years of XFi's? in my 93 FSM I was surprised to see that the only XFi colors in 93 were my Polynesian green, and bright white. That junkyard car was dark blue. At least that I remember. |

to me it looks like the Paint code thread has an excellent start and has some momentum right now, I would keep an eye on things there and if you have a specific question, ask. To me the easiest way to get RPOs/Paint Codes is right from the FSMs themselves like everyone is doing now.

XFI was White, Blue, and Polynesian Green Metallic. Various different blues over the years, 93 had Polynesian Green instead of blue. |
