155R12 76S tires for 92 Geo - Are other sizes compatible?

I need to front tires for my 92 GeoMetro. The current tires on it are "155R12 76S". Are there any other tire sizes that are compatible with this tire that I can get to replace them? I'm having a hard time locating the exact tire.
Thank you.

P14580R12 is stock for all pre '95 Metros (except convertibles). I got mine for $50 a piece on Amazon, but I don't think they are in stock anymore.

Not a bad deal here!

TireRack Link

Edit: Also found these on my hopeless search for 12" snow tires. These ones are a pretty close size!

I bought 4 brand new "Kumo" brand tires, size 155 80 R12 from Discount Tires in Houston area Texas.
Every time I go on a trip I lose a tire.
Each tire, one by one, has "grown whiskers" by that I mean the wires inside the tires come out of the tires and scrape the wheel well. I have yet to get out of Texas on these tires and they are trying to convince me to get 13" rims and new set of 13" tires.
At this point I have replaced ALL 4 of the new tires with the same replacement size/brand tires. I know that I can get a dependable set of 12's that I can travel with, just have not found them yet.
Since I have purchased the "fix it free" warranty I just keep getting the tires replaced with same and have to repurchase the warranty for 12 bucks a tire.
..sighs...
So I too am looking for tire recommendations.

I can however suggest to NOT BUY "Kumo"

I have noticed that spare tires are an essential I now have 2 spares and have used them both just to get back home on the same trip.
...smh...might get a 4th spare just so I can go property hunting. Would like to Geopalooza but with tire issues not even a possibility. Anyway....
Avoid my mistakes. I have this morning noticed on this site in another area where members use and have for some time used a "Douglas" tire brand they found at Walmart. I have always had trouble finding 12" tires... once I sat stranded at a roadside tire stand for 3 days,
I want a common size tire I can get just about anywhere, because I travel and need a tire randomly from some roadside tire shop in the middle of nowhere.
GL to us. LOL
Thanks for this Forum Johnny

edit: now after 8 tires I have finally found a set that does not fall apart..had them about a month now and quite happy with them, and they are still the Kumo..

The "155R" (just like the "145R") designation is roughly the equivalent of a 155 80 (or 145 80) designation.

So an equivalent replacement for a 155R12 would be a 155 80 12.

As mt9999999999999999999 said, the original tire was a 145R12 which can be replaced by a 145 80 12. And both of these sizes are available - just look on internet sites like tirerack.com (Tire Sizes by Wheel Diameter 12"). Or do a search on 145 80 12 or 155 80 12

Whether or not you want to get 155 80 12 replacements or 145 80 12 replacements depends on your preference for ride, fuel economy for city driving, and whether or not you mind your speedometer reading 2 mph lower than your actual speed as it will with the larger than spec diameter 155 R/80 12s.

Unless you are the unluckiest tire buyer ever and keep getting bad tires from the same bad production run, my personal "tire" recommendation to you would be to get your front end components checked and/or get it aligned. This is not normal situation that you would expect from even the cheapest of tires with a properly aligned vehicle. let alone having the same abnormal wear condition develop repeatedly.

And Kumhos in my opinion are very good tires. We have had a few sets now and are easily getting over 50,000 miles of good service from them, and I know several other people who have had the same results.

Thank you for your reply. I saw this particular ad a couple of days ago but, using their own compatibility utility on their eBay site, I got the message: "This part is not compatible with 1992 Geo Metro Base Hatchback 2-Door."
So, their compatibility info is incorrect?

The stock size is 145, not 155. That's probably eBay's issue. Either size ought to work fine. As Myredvert said, the speedo will probably be a little off with 155's. But they will work fine.

No problem, glad to help! :)

Try "tires-easy.com".

I run 4 pre 95 metros and don't have any problem getting them there.

145's or 155's will be just fine. might alter your speedo reading by a mph or two, that's all. You probably would not notice the difference.
