Hello all, I just bought a '94 Metro XFi, and thought that this would be a good place to document the car as purchased and follow any work I do to it over time. I found the car here in the for sale section being sold by a nice gal in Savannah GA. She had experienced some cold starting issues and had it in and out of the mechanic's shop a few times without resolution and had hit her frustration limit with it. I'm the 4th owner, all three previous owners have been in GA and the car has spent much of it's life sitting inside garages. I drove down to Savannah from my home just South of Philly on Sept 14th and towed it home on the 15th. It still has the cold start issue going on but will start on raw gas dribbled into the TB then it runs very well and everything including the dealer installed AC works perfectly. Here it is as bought and at it's new home. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With it's sibling, my '94 3/5 base Metro.

Since these pics were taken I have removed the crappy aftermarket side moldings and their adhesive, hand bent/massaged the hood so that it now sits nearly flush with the fenders (it had bumped into something earlier in life), vacuumed out the interior, cowl vent chamber and lower front fender drain areas (totally rust and corrosion free!) and done some scrubbing under the hood. No pics yet until I get the groovy blue vinyl splash stripes removed. The paint is a little dull but not chalky so I intend to spend some quality time with my Porter Cable DA/orbital polisher/buffer and lots of rubbing & polishing compound, polish and wax, should come back up pretty nicely. The black rims on the back are spares with new tires that I had on hand and mounted for the tow home, the other two original silver rims (which are cleaning up and looking like new) are in my garage and need new rubber. The car came with 2 GEO center caps and member MT99999 sent me his sole surviving cap, so I am still one short if anyone has one to offer. Being from the rust/salt belt all my life I am totally blown away with the fact that this car is completely rust free. My plan is to keep it as my fair weather commuter and use my rusty/repaired and rusting again blue car for the Winter. |
