Just put an LED light in the dome light. The light only comes on if a door is open, not if i switch it on in the dark. Haven't examined it closely yet due to a busy work schedule, but any ideas off the top of your head as to why i can't switch it on? |

Carbon buildup on the switch. The switch on the dome light is just a small ball bearing the rolls between the switch contacts. If it has not been used in awhile, it tends to get a little buildup on it. You can just try switching it back and forth a few times and that should clean it. If not you may need to take it down and clean the contacts. Also, the switch itself always has power. The light turns on when you provide a ground either by opening a door, or moving the switch. The good part is that the ground for the switched side is just one of the screws holding the dome light up. Just loosen and retighten the screws, and you will effectively clean the grounds. Good luck!
