I got this car about a week and a half ago, for a real cheap price. Posted Image

I pulled it home behind my F150, it was no match for my truck. (I couldn't even tell I was pulling a car behind me)

It had to be towed home due to the hole in the engine block Posted Image

Luckily the car came with a "Spare engine" that I was able to place in the Trunk of the car.

Here's some info from the data Sticker in the Trunk.

And the data plate on the car body.

From what I gathered from looking up some of the Vin numbers is that this car was assembled in the Japan plant.

I think it's pretty comical that there is a weight limit sticker on the car. 388 lbs plus luggage. :lol :thumb

Nice! :rocker This is your last year of full inspections for it right? (I'm in El Paso TX)

Definitely not a car for a morbidly obese person though :hmm Or a skinny guy and an obese dog :lol

All 'Verts were assembled in the Japanese plant.

388 pounds is 2 passengers including their luggage.

Yes, they were already up to date from the previous owner. I have to change out the motor soon, take it for a test drive and see if it is roadworthy.

(I'm originally from the "24" Northeast! )

I learned something new, now I know they were all built in Japan.

I noticed that the valve covers are different between the two engines, why is that?

My '91 'Vert vin# ends in 618874 and yours ends in 612690, a difference of 6184.
Yours has the 'old' style valve cover, mine has the "new" style.
I wonder if somewhere in that 6184 was where they changed from the 'old' to the "new" valve cover.
I know mine is factory stock.

Well, I guess that's a good thing since how the flat top has a hole in the block from a rod breaking through... is there a way to find out what year the motor is, just in case I need parts. Or does that not matter?

:thumb Our cars are pretty close in numbers, from looking on a vin decoder site I found out my car was made April 4, 1991.

Here is the location of the numbers on the engine that will tell you about your engines. Tell us what your numbers are on both engines and we can tell you what year engines you have.

Update: I took the bad motor out and got the parts off that I needed.. intake, starter, exhaust. Timing cover and belt.

What I did notice is the gears for the timing belt are different and the belt I have won't fit.

Has anyone had a bolt head shear off on the transmission. (A bolt that mounts the engine to the transmission) and how did you remove it?
