I have a geo metro and the steering wheel locked so I drilled the pin out right in the middle of the X so I will never lock again. and if your key wont turn because of a the turn pin. you jut have to get a screwdriver and push the pin to release it. It will work.

If you shut the car off (most cars do this) with the steering turned and there is stress on the steering wheel linkage, the key will not turn unless you grab the steering wheel and move it one way or another the take the load off the lock pin.

You will need to take the ignition switch/combo switches off the the steering rack. When you take it off you can tell how the mechanism works. I have never drilled it out, but it feels like there is a spring behind it. The image clearly shows where to drill. I don't recommend the drilling, but to each his own.
