I guess you have PayPal? Pm me. I'd like to help out some. It won't buy a new car, but might help somewhere. Maybe our fellow members could do something too. Kinda like a direct, Go Fund Me thing. I'm really sorry this happened to you.

The newer cars have anti theft features and are harder to steal. Someone looking for a joy ride will target an older car. If it was stolen for a joy ride, odds are the cops will find it. If someone targeted it for what was inside, those things will be gone.

In 1985 I bought a 66 Valiant for $600. My first car. Within 3 months it was stolen. A few weeks later I found it by the railroad tracks. They had removed some components, like the generator and carb. I concluded the car was stolen for hard to get parts. Had to take the bus to work for a few months, which sucked because bus service was bad.

My second car was a 78 Civic. It was stolen a few years later. The police found it within 2 days. The ignition had been broken so the impound lot guy showed me how to hotwire it. Drove it that way until i wired in a after market ignition switch. The impound guy made the comment, " they really did a number on your car" because it was full of trash. I did not bother to explain that is how it normally looked. The thief had pulled the manual choke out too much and it had become stuck, so the car was undrivable, which is why they abandoned it. But I immediately knew what the problem was and fixed it. From trying to start it with the choke stuck, they had worn out the battery so they put a new battery in it. When I got the car back home I put a chain on the hood to discourage them from getting their battery back. But two weekends later they came back and stole their battery back.

I agree with TurboEF, car theft should be made illegal to discourage criminals.

Car theft is illegal, it is called "grand theft auto" and if they catch you, you go to jail for like 2 years. Very bad ju ju.

I had a truck of mine stolen. they took some nice stuff out of it but did not hurt the truck, found it 3 days later on the street, a neighbor called the police and said it had been their like 2 days.

Man that is irritating. Friends of mine have had their window in their care broken several times. they finally put a sign on the window, unlocked nothing inside.... and they take their stereo in the house.

I will keep an eye out in my area.... post a picture on this thread. Best of luck finding it.

Yeah, set up a pay pal and we all could chip in some to help you out. Loosing my tools would really upset me.

I'll find out. And I'll beat his ass with a 24" breaker bar.
Might not be such a good idea, you could wind up in jail (even if he/she deserves it). On the other hand if you find out who it is you could get their name /address and stop at Barnes & Noble and grab those subscription postcards out of EVERY magazine on the rack, sign them up and check the "Bill me later" box, drop those 50 or more postcards in the mail and take solace in the knowledge that their life will get a bit messier for the next year or more...
Wow, that's an awesome idea! I'll have to keep that one on my list...

Just do a kill switch under the dash!

An alarm is good too. Keeps people from staying around. Put a gps tracker in the car.
