We have 4 between us now and I might pickup a 5th today unless there are lines. I know the odds are against me but one can dream.

And that is pretty much the only value of the lottery - it reminds us we have dreams...

I would agree with that. It is really for entertainment value and just a complete waste of money if looked at any other way.

I never, ever buy Powerball tickets, but I think I'll get one today for the hell of it.

Buying a ticket is a cheap price to pay if you like to dream. I absolutely love to dream, so I paid for 5 chances to win.

I got 5 and one won $4. There was a match for the big winner in CA.

I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Well :shit !

“Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”: old definition = Insanity. New definition = playing the Powerball Lottery

I realize that the odds against me ever actually winning it are staggering. Kind of like your chances of: being in a plane crash; surviving it; then being struck by lightning – twice; surviving it; then being mauled by a bear; surviving it; then being in attendance at a Series winning game 7, where the Milwaukee Brewers actually win the World Series. Sure, the first three aren’t terribly likely, but, theoretically, they "could" happen. The last one, however, ain’t no way. May as well buy Powerball tickets and root for the Twins.

I had a buddy in high school win $25k on a scratch off. He bought a new Civic out right and then spent the last $8-10k living while in college. It lessened the strain on him for the 4 years of college.

I know 2 guys I work with that won $500k+. Both blew it within 1-3 years and ended up coming back to work.

How do you blow the money that fast?! If any winner was smart, they would buy investment properties and rental units, and be set for life!

Edit: Man, even if I didn't invest in anything and just spent the money normally, I would be able to easily stretch $500,000 over 10-15 years just living normally.

Sure, you only live once... So you should make the money last your WHOLE life. :D Unless you plan on doing some really stupid stuff with the money, and dying before you can spend it all... :lol

I heard one of the winners works at a nursing home. She and all of her 18,000 (company wide) coworkers were bought a Powerball ticket by their boss, who is a billionaire.

She won over $500,000,000. That's one HELLUVA bonus to get from your boss!
