If memory serves correctly, I have seen this picture before. I don't think the people inside made it. The egg shape of the entire frame of the Smart, would protect the body, but it has no cushion zones really. Your body in the above picture goes from 60 to 0 instantly. Essentially your heart rips away from its anchoring points inside your chest. We need slower deceleration to survive. |

this is why modern cars fall to bits and look worse than they really are. |

It's actually a frame from the British T.V. show "5th Gear." They drove the car (via remote control) into a concrete barrier at 70mph. They were still able to open the doors after the crash. Honestly, this car held up better than my Cavalier did when a Mercedes failed to yield at a light. I was only going 50 then, and the frame was too warped to allow the doors to open. |

We may laugh at the Smart but it is a modern car and has to meet newer safety standards. It may not be great but I would expect it is better than the Metro. I have smoked a few squirrels in the Metro and it just keeps on going. The worst was what I think was a raccoon. IT was at night and suddenly an animal was out in front of me before I could really start slowing down. I smacked it at 50mph and all it did was knock my turn signal bulb loose. I figured it was bad but reseated it and it was fine. Conor |

I got a racoon the other day as well. He was wandering and through my lane, I had to take him straight on. I imagine it probably gave him one hell of a concussion when my front bumper whacked his head from mid air to the ground... poor little bugger! He was probably rabid anyway. Luckily, no damage to the Metro. |

Saw this on my way to work:![]() poor thing! Apparently, it managed to knock the other car completely off the road. Not bad for a ~1750lb little car! |

Any bad side effects from that? Here in Ohio they are still working on legalizing medical marijuana, so I would imagine smoking squirrels is probably still a long way off.
