Jaguar banner ads

Sherry's company awards dinner was last night, and because it was way on the other side of Baltimore, we stopped at her house on the way home. So I'm on one of her laptops this morning, without AdBlock on the Firefox. The siren call of these evil Jaguar ads is luring me towards the rocks. Came here to talk Metro and I'm contemplating an F-Type.

Hmmm, $699 a month isn't really that bad, If I can find some dummy to buy the Kizashi for $10,000, and moved in here with Sherry, I could swing that. I'd look marvelous tooling around in this:

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

that's enough of that young man!

i'm revoking your browsing privileges until you straighten your ass up!

as if the $699 a month payment isn't bad enough, the first service interval on that british clap trap costs twice that - and it's still no guarantee that the heap won't leave you stranded on a 6 lane highway.

focus on the turbo3. ;)

F-type? you're right, it does look like a Ferrari.

Someone needs to design a new look for a car, this :shit all looks alike.

I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Well, as long as you opt for one with the 550hp V8, that has AWD and does 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, I guess we wouldn't really have a problem with it. But thanks for running it by us, first. I say, "go for it". :thumb

Hmm... I must have some kind of ad-blocker, because I've never seen a banner ad on here with my browser.

In my 'younger' days (around 1972) I owned a '67 XKE Jag. I only owned it for about 6 weeks. On a Friday I got a ticket for 144+ on I5 headed from LA to San Diego. Spent the weekend in jail and had to sell the Jag to pay the fine. Then spent two weeks on restriction after Captains Mast for AWOL on that Monday morning.

Neat story. Sad that you had to sell it. Probably just as well that you did, though, as, only having had one of them, it wouldn't have been long before you would have been relegated to Shoe-leather Express as your primary means of transport. With British Leyland's inherent reliability, or lack there of I should say, you would've needed one to drive, and one to repair. They looked cool as :shit , though.

Readers Digest Condensed version? :hmm

...just add copious amounts of alcohol to fully reconstitute it?

No kidding, saw one certified pre-owned with 10K miles where they were boasting "just had $6,000 in suspension work done". WTF? What was that, new shocks?

This era is a better looking car, but a ten year old Jaguar is even more problematic than a two year old one:

Not so fast

I had to stop to help push a dead Jaguar out of an intersection last week. The transmission sounded like a bag of bolts in a wood chipper. :scared

They arent near as bad as they were in the 80's and earlier. The Ford owned years were a big improvement in quality. The 95-97 XJ6 and XJR models were the best Jags as far as the classic style and much improved reliability goes. They still used the straight six engine that runs so smooth you cant feel it running while having good performance. They do have tgeir quurks as any car does, but the Lucas electrics were removed so no electrical problems like tgey used to have. I have a 97 Vanden Plas, the long wheelbase version. Its a nice car, rides nice, handles pretty dang well for a large car, and gers relatively good mpg for a barge, around 24 mpg combined city and fast highway driving.

Bad picture but here it is.

Its a really nice car, almost the complete opposite of my 98 sedan, but worth having as a second car for fun. It was cheap to buy, $3000 for a luxury car. Seen Metros going for that much, lol.

If you can afford a Jag you should be able to afford a storage unit so the Jag has a nice living room. :rofl :rofl :cheers

D@mn you guys! Now you got me looking at Craigslist for Jags...

If Gloria finds out she won't be happy. We've had this conversation before but Jaguar's reputation is so bad that she's dead set against the idea.

I saw a really nice Jag for sale on a local classifieds site for dirt cheap. The thing was MINT except for one major problem.... The head gasket was blown and they mentioned that a shop wanted some insane about to do the work so were selling it as is.

There is a guy at one of the local parts stores who will comment that he is looking for a cheap car from time to time. Then he shows up an a BMW 7 series that he only paid $1000 for! That is like a $90k car new by the way. Apparently a lot of the luxury car models depreciate rather rapidly and once 10 years old or so, they are very cheap. I guess part of this is because of all the money and specialized parts/labor required to keep them running. I helped someone sell a nice condition used Cadillac and it was the same way. They ended up getting more than the book value by quite a bit but it still wasn't what I would have thought a car like that would have sold for.

My parents bought a Mercedes GLK 350 brand new and love the car. They don't like the fact that the bill is $1000 or more anytime it goes in for anything!
