Actually it's in a 30 by 40 metal pole barn, lots of stuff in there I'm cleaning out. There's also a 13 Kawasaki Voyager and my late fathers BMW 740i I'm restoring, someday. |

the thing to remember about all the us auto manufacturers buying the european car companies was that it was done to gain entry into the eu market. gm pilfered all the safety and engineering gold from saab and the discarded the husk. saab is now defunct and has vanished from the industry. if i recall correctly, ford divested itself of its jaguar holdings and the brits have been building jags on their own. ford established themselves as an eu market manufacturer and peddle their own line in europe. |

Jaguar and Land Rover (Ford brought them together into the same company) are now owned by the Indian company Tata Motors. Ford and GM were established in Europe long before getting involved with Jaguar and Saab. Ford was already successful there in the 1970's with their Escort and Fiesta. GM's European branch really took off way back in the 1920's when they bought Opel and Vauxhall. |

Those new Jags are damned sexy. Get the V6 with stick! I'm so tempted by a Fiat 500 Abarth... Soo tempted...

I recently saw a reliability score that showed the Fiat brands are the WORST in terms of reliability. Yes, WORSE than all the other Chrysler models which are now part of the same company. Yes, it would be fun while it lasted. How long is the warranty on these things? Conor |

i have the same reports with the fix it again tony cars. i wouldn't dispute the fact that ford and chevy had market involvement in europe prior to the formation of the european union, they did. but they were listed as european divisions and pretty much run as european divisions. the european union rules excepted those as standing european outfits. ford bought jaguar, gm bought saab, cadillac bought into maserati, chrysler hooked up with daimler, all to meet the provisions of the new economic agreement so that they could maintain a market share within the eu. i knew big shots within the saab usa and saab sweden organizations and discussed this with the corporate boys at great length over beers in the parking lot at an annual owners group convention in the early 90s.

Fun for a Lease... Actually, it seems the 500 Abarths seem to be pretty reliable from what I've read, it's the crappy lesser 500's that people are complaining about. I wouldn't actually consider the lower models, because they just don't interest me. I would totally get a Alfa 4C, but that's a love affair that won't enjoy the winter or the roads around here.

That car is just pure sex to me. Shame is, because the closest dealer is like 20 hours from me, I'd have to do all of my own service, not that I'd complain. Though warranty work, would totally suck! Forgivable for such a lovely car. I know you can almost get 3 Miatas for the same money, but I'd take the 4C any day of the week.
