I've discovered that these cars are not too bad in the snow! I went out and had a little fun tonight.

I've learned the same thing. The skinny tires cut through the snow, and their light weight rolls over-top of the rest easily. They are good until you get too confident, going the speed limit when the road is covered, and then your car starts sliding sideways down the road, spinning/swerving side to side, with no ABS. I managed to gently steer my way out of that skid, and took it easy from there out.

My Metro was one of the best snow cars I ever had. Put good studded snow tires on them and they will go anywhere. |

I went over the Rockies on I70 a few years back during a huge snow storm. Did not break traction once. Love my Metro. |

I have very worn summer tires on mine. Doesn't handle snow deeper than an inch at all......... However, On slippery roads it manages to hug the corners and stop well. When the rain turns my street to a I expected rink, I can start out with zero wheel spin. None of my geo's have ever slid off the road. My wife's van has excellent snow tires. Handles deep snow well. It can't stop or a corner very well and has left the road multiple times. On ice it spins s like crazy trying g to get rolling. |

Last year we had some snow that hit during the day. Folks in Raleigh panicked and jammed up the beltline, and when I left work the next day (was on call so I just stayed) my Geo took me ably through the streams of abandoned BMWs, Mercedes, and the like that littered the side of the road. Our second round of winter weather, I was crossing a bridge over a large lake with no problem at all, and the semi behind me slid through the guardrail just off the bridge, going down the bank landing inches from the water. I left my 4X4 2500 Suburban at home to drive the Metro. |
