A Metro!!!

My Fiance' got me Junkyard Wars on DVD for Christmas and while watching the 3rd episode (They're building a "River Rapid Racer") one of the teams drags a Metro into their Pit and start yanking the G10 out to use the engine. The funny part is watching them struggle to pull the G10...knowing it would only take less than 15 minutes for most of us to do the same job, lol. The show spent a good 10 minutes following them "struggling" to pull the engine.

Funny enough, they gave up and went and found an ancient carburated 4cyl to use instead.

It might have taken me more than 15 minutes to do it alone haha. Anyway, I love this show! I forgot about it. I'll have to see about picking up a DVD set or streaming it. Does your Fiance share the same enthusiasm for JYW as you do?

I did it in about 20 mins. Was trying hard not to destroy everything else. Had to do it at Pick N pull

I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Cool. Though it's probably just as well that they did abandon it in favor of a, simpler to hook up outside the vehicle, carb'd 4cyl. Chances are, if their own brain-boxes couldn't figure out how to extract the tiny engine, they probably would have had a tussle figuring out how to get the one (ECM) out of the car, along with the associated wiring harness to control it, too.

:lol
Never noticed the Metro before. Would have loved to stop them for two seconds and tell them, "you know this thing is only 55 hp right?" I can see why they struggled. When your primary tools are a hammer, a crow bar, and a pry bar, it tends to take a min. God forbid they use a socket set. :shake

I love how most of the population watches the show and says " Hey, that's pretty cool! I would never have thought of that!"

And

How most of us watch the show and say "Hey, that's not how you do it! Now if you would have done it this way it would have worked!" :rofl

If it makes you feel any better, these guys were hands on technical guys with NASA in Houston, lulz.

It shouldn't take a "Rocket Scientist" to figure out how to extricate a G10 engine from its, sheet metal confined, predicament. Particularly, when you have the luxury of not having to reinstall it in the same confines, or concern yourself with the carnage by employing a less than delicate approach.

...a classic example of people that are educated well beyond their intelligence.

it does not take long at all. when I got my light fly wheel I had my coolant drained in a pan engine out changed fly wheel and all the coolant back in the car ready to drive in 45 mins. (47 mins from key off to key back on if you wanna be technical) pulling a G10 is so easy, biggest time savers are not having AC and not using an engine picker, just do it by hand, given your strong enough to lift the engine. When the junk yard war team struggles I laugh at that :rofl
