In Vancouver, gas prices converted to US$ and US gallons is $2.78 US / US gallon, down from a high of almost $5.50 US / US gallon back in 2014. So now it costs $28 US to buy 10 US gallons for my Metro, vs. $55 US a few years ago. In the Vancouver area, federal, provincial and local government taxes and fees still account for about $10.50 on a Metro-sized fill up, so even if gasoline was given away free, it would still cost motorists $1.05 US / gallon. With cheaper gas prices, I find I am driving more than I used to, average about 200-250 miles per week. (FYI: Canadians/Metric system folks: it's currently $1.05 CDN / litre, down from $1.55/litre. $1.00 CAD has dropped during this period from $0.95 US to $0.70 US). 14 mi to work 14 home my daily drvr Doesn't matter what gas is priced My other options are the family wagon(minivan)or my extended cab full 8' bed truck My XFI gets 2.5 times the fuel economy as the wagon and 5 times better than the truck If I drive the truck to work 1 time it burns what the Metro does in a week 😕 That a no brainer, goes against my grain every time I've gotta drive the truck which is only to haul something heavy (like heaver than the Metro) 😜 Why not drive my car I just love my Metro ❤️ |

I drive my Metro on weekdays, my 09 Jeep Liberty 4x4 to work 90 miles to and from work on the weekends. I drive to work Sat morning, come back late Sun night, then its usually parked the rest of the week. I love the Jeep and is of course much much better for offroading than a four door Metro, lol. Only reason I drive it is becuase I sleep in the back, I can lay down and sleep in it, cant do it very comfortably in the Metro, but had to one weekend. It is nice paying so little to fill it up. |

I have had SEVERAL bad experiences with Caseys gas! Pinging/detonation as well as significantly lower gas mileage is a common issue. This stuff is cheap but there must be a reason why. I keep on driving my Metro but it isn't so painful to drive one of the trucks once in a while with gas low. Sometimes I can tell they get so little use with the Metros around that they run rough for a little while when I drive them again. I make a point to start and run them once in a while, mainly to get feed and the like. I often get that in a Metro though and it works about just as well! You have to have a truck around for the 4WD and I use mine to haul fire wood, hay, and such. I also haul in scrap metal when it builds up from my various projects/computer work. I have to say I am very tempted to buy a 2017 Mirage. My GF just bought a 2015 and we both love it and I hear the 2017 will be even better. No more changing timing belts! It isn't a big deal on the Geo but her old car used a very non-forgiving interference engine and I changed the timing belt as it was overdue and very cracked up. She really hates timing belts. Gas is something like 1.99 here right now, not too bad for Cali I guess. Still using my Mimi for a daily driver / commuter about 1500 miles a month. Took a break in the month of December only cause the roads up here in the mountains were uncomfortably snowy so drove my other Suzuki ... Grand Vitara that is. One observation I ve made is that people are really fickle (at least around here) and the minute gas drops for a bit they are selling these little cars for nothing as they run out to buy big SUV's. Fine with me, presents wonderful buying opportunities.... |

Gas is $1.77 in my area, and I'm still driving the Geo. I drive a '93 GMC Sierra C1500 when we have flooding rains or high winds..or when the Geo is under the weather. The GMC is a more comfortable drive, but the Geo is more economical and easier to park. Parts cost less for the Geo than the GMC, which is also a motivation to drive the Geo. The overall maintenance costs are lower in general. |

gutless? i clocked 92 on this speed radar thing this morning, and cruised around that all the way home with ease also like to run over people on the merge to free way ramps, id say the geos have some major balls to hold it out in the world with the smallest engine on the road for a car as far as gas price, i dont even know what the cost is, dont know dont care, i drive the metro every day because i like it regardless if gas was $2 or $20 id still buy it and id still drive the same way i do now at red line

I have a 2 mile commute to work now, so I sold all my Metros and Sprints except for my 1993 convertible. I picked up a 2007 Kia Sportage for a song and drive it every day. It's much easier on my back and with my growing boys a lot easier getting in and out of. I may pick up a beater hatchback as a summer flip project. |

As gas prices continue to fall, consumers demand that [insert car manufacturer name here] brings back the Canyonero!
