There is a video out there somewhere of an older '90s model Chrysler van racing a Mustang or Camaro and it just smokes it. They have the soccer ball decal in the window and everything. Conor |

Yuck. I used to think Sienna's were good mini vans, until I came across my mom's super expensive leather, heated seats, navigation, power everything limited AWD Toyota Sienna mini van. It's a 2009 model, just over 130,000 miles or so, and it's totally gone to hell. The engine has low compression in a couple cylinders, and the garage wants over $4,000 to fix it. Not only that, but she destroyed the front driver's fender and door (plus the bumper) with an accident with a deer prior. Dealers will only offer her $1,000 - $1,500 for it, and she owes $15,000 on it! What a useless hunk of $15K scrap metal now. Over $500/mo. car payments, full coverage insurance, barely 19-21 MPG (on a good day)... Just no thank you, I'll stick to $800 Metros from here out!

I have found the Chevy mini vans with 3400 v6 can be bought cheap. You do intake gasket and good for another 100,000 miles. I have bought 3 for less than a grand and only kept 1 made money on the other 2. Love my mini van! |

I know the Chevy Uplander is a van with somewhat of a cult following. I guess there was an AWD model that could go just about anywhere. This seems to be the one many people want. I am not a Chrysler fan overall but their vans seem to be the one thing they have always specialized in and do well. Conor |

Ironically, a 3100's blown intake gasket is the reason I'm looking for another car. Edited by Coche Blanco, Feb 14 2016, 03:02 PM.

Is the intake gasket on the 3100 hard to change? I have driven several of these cars and always thought they drove well. I know mechanics aren't a huge fan of them when it comes time to change plugs as I guess the rear bank of 3 is a pain. I once knew a dumbass who changed only the front 3 themselves and the thing just drove around sputtering and stumbling on 3 cylinders. It smelled like a 2 stroke boat motor and the mileage was horrible of course! You had to get a run at hills, otherwise it wouldn't have enough pop to keep the torque converter engaged. It would just slowly come to a stop on the hill and sit there spitting and sputtering. I remember having to take an alternate route once because you could never make it through this one stoplight in town without having to stop and there was no making it through the light on that hill! Otherwise I always enjoyed driving the GM 3100. The 3800 is another good one if you ask me. Conor |

They don't really 'blow' their intake gaskets...since the manifold is under vacuum, they actually 'suck' them. My dad's girlfriend bought a brand new 2004 Impala. Green over mocha leather...absolutely loaded. Beautiful car. It sucked it's intake gasket while she and my dad were on a trip, and it had to be towed to the dealership. Repaired for something like $4,100 once it was all sorted out. My dad really let the GM guys have it for all of the car's problems. "THIS is why you guys went bankrupt! THIS is why people buy Hondas!!" |

The autos are just known for being hit or miss. The V6 models definitely just had too much torque. A lot of auto Hondas just have issues with them, from my experience. Seems you decided this was a no-go anyway. |
