Ok lets have some back story on why I have this car. back quite a while ago I went to mesa sales and purchased that padding for my turbo blue car, this was quite a while ago. One of the sales associates was an older lady named Debbie was ooin and awin my red geo I drive every day. Well she said she had a geo that didn't run, I gave her my phone number and many months went by and I got a phone call from her husband Jim, so this is where this all begins. He called me asking if I knew how to fix geos, I said I did, I found out he lived very close to Sarahs old house on Elmwood in mesa. I went over there did some basic looking over the car that had been sitting, had spider webs in it but he keeps the tires pumped up and kept up on the external stuff so it didn't fall to dust. The car had a bad starter and if any one remembers when Gary gave me the white car to dismantle I had quite a stash of parts and I decided to give Jim and Debbie the starter install it and get them up and going. Jim is an older guy with some health issues, he got the desert lung or whatever that is called. So he could not work on the car and I wanted to just get em hooked up and going. Starter installed we got the car up and took it for a drive, had an issue to where it would not run cold but when it was warmed up it would run ok. Another issue is it needs some front suspension stuff, BUT I have some decent suspension parts I took off the blue car, our game plan was to fix up this car get this crap out of my shop and it was a win win, no waste of parts no more junk in my house boom. Well I got busy with my own projects then we moved and things came up so we just didn't get to it. It was summer and we didn't want to really do that any way way to hot. So fall rolled around and I worked on my house, we had agreed to work on it here and get it all tip top come winter ish time. Well time went on I didn't hear from Jim and one day he called me, actually just before Christmas. He called me to say that Debbie had passed away. I did make a post about it in the lounge saying that a geo member had passed away. So that was my side, now what made this geo special over just any geo. Debbie was the peace love type of lady, she had the geo since I think 1999 it has flowers on the hub caps and other peace slogans on the back because it was HER geo, loved it just as we love all our cars. Now lets shift gears hear and tell the story of WHY I have this car, after Debbie passed Jim is un able to afford the place he is living in alone, his family is helping him out but they are back east. He has a chevy blazer few cats and the dog plus his furniture and other moving things. He had the car on craigs list for a while with no bites got a few post its on the car sitting in his drive way but only scrappers and low ballers. I did not need the car at all I have plenty but I wanted to help a brother out when he was a bit down on luck so I offered to buy the car if no one wanted it, I could only really give him 600 for it even tho I wish I could help him more, hes a great guy and some times I feel as tho I grew up in the wrong time, I drove him home as we cruised the back roads to his house he told me stories of what used to be and not be there as we drove, crazy times hes had and things hes done, it was a great. So here we are I would like to introduce to you all my new to me $600 white automatic geo metro.![]() first, I needed to wash out all the black widows and clean it up so I could start some tune up repairs and general going over, its what we do right? the seat has a hole in it and I gave DTMgti my seat from garys crash but scratchpaddy texted me saying he has 2 seats for me because he upgraded to esteem seats talk about great round abouts I make with parts.![]() so here we are an engine bay shot, I removed the filter blew it out then washed the engine down with 505 cleaner. lots of black widows in this car, since I don't like spiders I used carb cleaner to destroy them made me feel better any way.![]() now I want all you rust belters to look at ALL MY RUST, that's right so much rust! ![]() OH found some rust on the roof where the paint baked off, could probably just wipe that surface off be good as new ![]() So out in the work shop I made from mostly scrap or free everything ![]() now for fun, the exhaust is full of holes because it was used short trips and I suppose that is what rusts them out also the rattle in the exhaust was driving me crazy.ok so out to the metal shop I made, I cut off the heat guard so and still rattles, so here comes the cut off wheel. ![]() so I cut a window in the cat box and could not figure out how to get the flap open with out messing up the seams, so I welded a stick of rebar to it and used it as a handle to pry open the window all the way. ![]() next I took out the reminder of the cat, pounded the hole shut and welded it up. ![]() ok so here is the back resonator pipe, yes it is original Suzuki pipe so is the one on my red car. I took the grider and chopped off the head shield to see all the holes and thin metal, I ground around make the holes bigger and then I had a moment ![]() I used the heat shield cut in half as patches for the entire pipe yea I could replace this but...nah this is more fun I franken stitched the thing together using a ball end hammer and the welder to fix the entire thing.![]() next hole was here where the muffler that is also original is rusted a little hole, a LITTLE hole, I touched it with the welder and it fell through made a big hole, ok so cut some heat shield from the catalytic converter tack it on pound tack pound etc. until I had bent it all around the pipe then I went back over it with bird poo. I'm not a welder this is my 3rd time welding soooo yea ![]() Edited by ZXTjato, Mar 2 2016, 11:31 PM.

A sad back story.. but glad the car has gone to an appreciative new owner. That's a very clean rear control arm mount - probably never seen moisture. whats up with the cat?

Wow, I didn't know the whole backstory to the car. I thought you went on the forbidden Craigslist. You're such a great guy, helping that old couple out in a time of need. I'm sorry to hear she passed away. We'll need to swap your seat rails onto my seats, since I kept my own rails for the Esteem seats, but it's an easy thing to do. Three bolts per rail, I think. These are the nice style, with fabric all around, no ugly vinyl on the sides. I like them, but I like the Esteem seats better. I'm glad they're going to a new Metro. ![]() I'm looking forward to seeing the car. I've never driven a 3/3 Metro before. |

I got to drive it around! It's pretty slow. If you push the gas, it goes slower. It can get around, though, even with super old gas in the tank. With a little help, it'll turn into a nice little runabout.![]() It's sad to think that the lady who painted these flowers is no longer with us. ![]() I don't think this car could have fallen into better hands, though. ![]() Check out this genuine Geo dash mat! ![]() You don't have to go out and get a new Mirage to get push-button start. I didn't notice this until looking through the pictures: why is there a block of wood in your radio slot? That doesn't seem like an adequate substitute for a radio. ![]() Geo-dashmat aside, the interior was in pretty sad shape. ![]() Out came the seats. You might think the carpet would clean up, but those threadbare mats are glued down to cover up holes. ![]() It wasn't too bad underneath, especially compared to mine. It was all surface wear, not kids sloshing Slurpees everywhere. ![]() We did not go the shag carpet route this time. Tanner put down some jute (this guy likes his jute), and a GT carpet he had laying around went in instead.![]() I swapped his seat rails onto my old seats while he was welding on my wheel well, and I completely forgot to get a picture of the interior mostly put together. Next time, then.

![]() ok so this carpet is the swift GT carpet but it is very dry rotted and the plastic keepers that help hold the carpet to the body were long gone, I had cut the plastic things off the old carpet before I junked it. I used zip ties and lots of shoe goo to hold the plastic rails on. ![]() here is the interior assembled to a most degree. the dry rotted carpet tho is coming apart so ill need to get carpet sooner than later for this car. Now I have been driving this car every day because my red car has developed an engine knock and its pretty bad. so I drive this car for a while till I get that fixed. I have more parts and more work to do to this car but at least it drives me to work, and boy is it slow. normally I drive the flow of other cars and on the 101 that can be 90mph easy and this car I don't drive over 65 because the tires are meh the shocks are meh and the steering is meh the gear box is meh the engine is meh.... get plowed down out there. but the great thing about this ride is it has Bugatti starter push button action and I don't need to lock it or even roll the windows up because there is nothing in it to take, except my jug of spare oil

I dunno... if I saw that car with the windows open, I might snag me a ![]() It looks a hell of a lot nicer with new carpet and seats. How's the sound quality on that block of wood?

I'm not sure. They were in my car (a base '96 hatchback) when I bought it a year ago, but the upholstery didn't match the rear seats, and they don't have the "courtesy lever" system that automatically slides the seat forward on 2-door models. My guess is a '95-'97 sedan. They used darker fabric after '98, and I think all hatchback seats had vinyl on the sides. |

yea I could replace this but...nah this is more fun
I franken stitched the thing together using a ball end hammer and the welder to fix the entire thing.
