Hey, guys I just watched two really good documentaries on PBS Frontline Putin's Way, and Saudi Arabia Uncovered. There is something to be learned from both, whether you are liberal or conservative. I hope Johnny Mullet will watch them, too. The videos are free on PBS's Frontline website. I am interested to see what forum members( who have watched them), think. I am not going to comment further, but I hope to hear what you guys think. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/watch/

I like Frontline a lot. I'll definitely have to check those out. I got quite angry after watching one a couple years ago, about pres Bush and the Iraq war, what they found, and what they didn't find. Very competent advice not listened to, etc. Yeah, I voted for him. |

If you like PBS documentaries, install the PBS app for android. 100's on there. Very easy to use, free, and works very well with a chromecast. And the PBS Kids app is a Godsend if you have little kids.

PBS has some great documentaries. American Experience, Nova, etc. are all really neat. I am going to see what apps they have for regular Windows as I do most of my TV watching through the computer these days. Conor |

Saudi Arabia tried to buy off their restive Sunnis and Shia with huge subsidies and handouts- as opposed to having real participation in their government. It occurred to me that this is what conservatives in the US are talking about. Handouts that don't empower people. That's one of the reasons I thought these documentaries would appeal to everyone. These two docs are pretty unbiased.

Pbs and frontline is about as moderate as you will find in the U.S. If there is another bigger news/documentary channel that is as moderate, lmk. *i havent watched pbs in a few years so unless it has significantly changed... |

Some programs have a bias while some do not but have to agree with you on this. Either way, I enjoy watching and just have to realize that some shows are biased. NPR is much the same but I don't listen to them. I do agree that it is pretty hard to find ANYTHING these days that isn't biased one way or another but feel that PBS does offer some good programming. They also offer some that I don't get or care about but that is the same for any channel. At least you can tune to the channel without being guaranteed to lose IQ points. That can't be said about the E! Network and many others that just run the celebrity gossip crap and "reality" shows that have no basis in reality. Something else they sometimes do are concerts which seem to be very well done and enjoyable. The HD signal from them also seems to be of excellent quality when you are within good range. The broadcast power must be low as it is the first station to drop out but when you are in range, it is the clearest channel on TV. Conor |

You're right. The news doesn't just get reported anymore. It is all contextualized for you. It would be nice if," The News", was just that, an honest reporting of what occurred. Let us decide for ourselves what the facts mean. |

I call it "Newstainment". There are a lot of things on the news that are not really news if you ask me. Conor |

If you like classical theatre, PBS used to have Masterpiece Theatre, they may still but havent watched non cable tv in decades, lol. Dr. Who was something I watched as a kid. Never cared for theatre though so didnt watch it. NPR is boring to listen to other than the car guys, but they retired and are no longer on. Its kind of a joke, lots of satire about NPR style speaking out there. Heck, I dont even watch the news, havent for a very long time. I get my info off the radio programs and the internet forums, lol. Usually hear it there first anyway. Yelliwbulket.com Trash ir be Trashed is the main one. |

public broadcasting in general may lean ever so slightly to the left, but it's the closest thing to real news your gonna find. unless you see it happening yourself! Frontline is a great show. Saudi-Arabia is very similar to the US in respect to the haves and the have nots! |

That's why I only read the paper. The only way it can get worse is to read the news online; especially on a website like www.yahoo.com. |
