My daughter Britney has needed a TCM for several months now for her 93 Geo Metro, but we've been having no luck finding a good one. I told her I had a spare, so when she came out today we installed it. But alas, that one didn't work either. :shit

So I thought I would hit my favorite honey hole in Mt. Sterling, Ohio to see if I could find an 89-94 automatic. As soon as I walked to the lot, I saw the familiar landmark of the Geo on top of the school buses.

Only this time I asked myself "What are the odds that it's an automatic?" So I made the perilous climb to the top of the school buses.....enjoy the view!!

And VOILA!!! It was an automatic, and the TCM was still there!! :banana

It was still a crap shoot as to whether or not the TCM worked, but when I got it home we plugged it in, and wouldn't you know it, it worked! I've been going to that parts lot for probably 8 years now and NEVER thought to make the climb up to that car!! While I was there I grabbed an antenna, too.

Not so fast

Good to know some people running junkyards have a sense of humor. Or maybe space was really tight. :lol Either way, nice find, with a good story to go with it. You're such a great dad. :thumb

That car has been sitting on top of those buses for at least 15 years with no protection from the elements. Yet the TCM was snug as a bug in a rug under the dash and untouched. Go figure!! :dunno

Don't ditch the other TCM's. Some minor soldering work will probably save them!

Looks like an awesome junk yard! Great view from up top. I guess they don't like to crush cars, seeing how most of those cars look like they've been there for 40+ years... :lol Wonder if there are actually any good parts left in some of those 1950's-looking cars...?

No. The rubber was all dried, cracked, and rotted. I did see another sunroof on another Metro with good rubber that I'll grab later.

EDIT: But I didn't notice if the sunroof was a Geo branded factory sunroof, only that it was in good shape and could be removed easily.

That's the first thing I noticed, and thought, when I saw the picture. :lol

I didn't know that any of these had a sunroof from the factory.

They didn't. It was a dealer installed option.

Hmm... interesting! I can imagine a dealer with a metal grinder cutting a hole in the roof... :lol
