Mint condition to boot. Even fewer prisms than metros out there i bet. Also saw a rusted out storm the other day in classic yellow.

That is SWEET! I've only seen them in junkyards, not in the wild.

Check that....I just searched Craigslist and there's one within an hour from my house. Nowhere near mint, though.

I would buy that and fix the rust, the hatch prizms are hard to come across, ive never seen one around here in hatchback form, but prizms are a dime of a dozen here. There are a few dozens of metros in my area :D

Had one back in the day...probably around 2000? It was a 1990. Bought it from a pot-lot for $150. Had an engine knock. Swapped in a motor out of a wrecked Corolla and sold it to a coworker who drove it for years.

It had that lovely 'red' paint that always looked pink after it oxidized...a couple days after waxing and buffing the shit out of it. :banghead

Are geo prizm specific hatches meant to be rare? It's hard to imagine a world where corollas are difficult to find.

It seems that many Japanese manufacturers are hesitant to offer hatchback variants of cars like the Corolla in the USA, due to a perception that sedans (with trunks) are preferred in that market.

I have seen a few Prism hatches around here. I never paid much attention since the only similarity to the Metro is the Geo badge. I will make note next time I see one. None are perfect and most have some rust as I remember. I guess they get this too plus they are getting up there in age.

There is a guy who works at a parts store around here who once had the Geo Storm in the GT or GTI model. It was the one with the potent engine and he said it was an absolute blast. Someone rear ended him and a person bought the totaled car to use in a small home built aircraft. These are EXTREMELY rare, much more so than any other Geo product. I am pretty sure the Spectrum was the precursor to the Storm much like the Sprint is to the Metro. They were Isuzu products. I know a fellow who had a Spectrum as his first car. He loved it and then it went to his sister and then his parents sold it for something else.

I never really thought Isuzu made a good product. It seems you don't see many these days and guess they die off early.

Trackers are common as dirt around here. Good Suzuki quality there....

I can't lie, I always preferred the look of sedans, as opposed to hatchbacks.

I am the other way around, especially in a SMALL car like the Metro or Mirage. I think a hatchback is best in something like this. Apparently they are bringing a sedan version of the Mirage to the US market this year because they feel more US buyers will prefer this version just as you say. It sounds like Mitsubishi didn't really think they Mirage would sell enough in the US market but were surprised by the sales numbers. They are investing in other changes to make the car more appealing to US buyers too.

I wonder why they waited so long to bring the Metro sedans to the US. I personally don't like the way these look but it obviously was a good marketing decision.
