Will an engine and trans from a Mazda 323 fit in a Suzuki Swift?

I know - it sounds way out on the edge, but I know where I can lay my hands on a complete 323 with a double overhead cam SOMETHING in it. Whether it's a 2.0 or a 2.5 I know not. I know it's a 16V with an auto trans. Going through the guys shop we found AND I BOUGHT (fer five bucks) a Genie Tri-Y performance header that I just know was intended for a swap with that car in mind as a donor.

The guy passed away three or four months ago and left behind a small herd of Ford Festiva cars, one of them is a Turbo 1600 16V car that I NOW OWN. And hey gang: We got it running, and that car SCREAMS!

But will that powertrain fit in the Swift?

If it does, that will be the new direction my project here is going to go in.

It might fit in the hatch if you pull the tranny away from the engine. :) sorry for being a smartie!

Yeah - I feel it! But I never give up on my toys, ya know?

The car has a manual five crasher transaxle in it, and I did at least one fifty foot burnout in second that wasn't caught on camera.
* I found out from that ride the car has something like a limited slip diff in it too, NO PEGLEGGING!!!

But yeah - now that I have the header for that engine, and I know that machine was collected by dude for an engine swap - not to put the car itself on the road - instead of getting a stripped Festy Chassis to put it in I HAVE TO think about my Suzie car chassis just sitting here, and I did say I was going to put a different plant in it. That's just plain old "RECYCLING" which is good for the planet, so they tell me

The Ford Festiva is a Mazda so lots of Ford/Mazda engines from that era fit in. I know of a guy who rallied them and they can take a V6 with some modifications.

One of our members DrDomer and crew put a V6 BMW and 5 speed in a late chassis. So yes it can be done. But can you afford to do it? It would be a screaming ass car rice killer.

The plumbing would suck. Have to pull the old harness and then put in one from the mazda. Lots of headaches in your future for what? A metro with a cool engine and tranny. Naw, just stick with the old fashion engine and tranny which came in the original metro unless you are into heartache, foul language, and unbelievable head scratching. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, just adding my two cents.

If you're talking pulling the Festiva engine out of that running car to put in a Swift, I'd say you're a glutton for punishment. No way I'd tear up that nice car. Keep it and find a turbo Swift or whatever. That Festiva is too cool to chop up.
