I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Anyone else planning on attending the Reason Rally this year, besides me? I thoroughly enjoyed the last one, four years ago, in spite of the weather. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d11tcjO--70

"To show support for the secular viewpoint that reason and scientific evidence should be the basis for government decisions..."

Because then you can become like these Geniuses

And have no moral compass except your own views, only to die at some later point and figure out that ETERNITY is a looooong time to be wrong. :thumb

Best of luck

I shall try, though, youtube's post rally offerings will likely rival anything my vast repertoire of audio visual equipment, aka "cellphone", might capture. :cheers

:hmm Well, as I previously posted, the primary reason would be: "To show support for the secular viewpoint that reason and scientific evidence should be the basis for government decisions..." .

But, in addition to that, for people like me, non-believers, it gives us a chance to: enjoy some really good and irreverent music, humor, political satire, poetry, thoughtful introspections, and just the general company of 50,000 other like-minded individuals.

But if all that isn't enough for you, just the spectacle of watching a person doing sign language to Tim Minchin's "Pope Song", replete with 75+ "fuck you" hand gestures, was REASON enough for me. I think that took more dexterity than Tim's piano playing.

But if that's not "your thing", then, by all means, say, or otherwise send it telepathically, a prayer to The Big Buy, on behalf of all us rational-thinking godless heathens, as you stand in the pews amongst the rest of the hypocrites, come that weekend's, Sunday morn.

If morality is imposed on you by fear of punishment, or by the guarantee of some reward it is not morality. This is in fact how groups like the Taliban can justify doing real crappy things to their fellow homo sapiens. When you think that people like you are the," Chosen", people, well, it makes it okay to do just about anything to others.
Real morality is inside you. It is just you being the best neighbor you can be to your fellow primates, without coercion, fear, hope of a reward, or divine permission.
Israeli archeologists have rather bravely proven that there was no Exodus. If there had been the Israelites would never have made it all the way to Mt. Sinai thinking that murder, rape, lying and thievery were okay.
The moment we homo sapiens started trying to work together, we had to develop trust. That is the origin of morality.

Evidence isn't loyal to me or anyone else. Provide me good solid evidence for an eternal afterlife, and I will believe it.
