Yes, the political system is in a pretty scary state. I DEFINATELY agree there.
And you think that, by excluding around 30% of the population that are atheists, agnostics, apatheists, and non-believers, some of which are not only extremely well educated, but the embodiment of ethical behavior and benevolence, that you are part of the solution and not part of the problem? :smackface

What this country needs, isn't, necessarily, an atheist president or atheist next supreme court appointee, what it needs, is to elect/appoint the best, most qualified, person for the job, regardless of their beliefs. When you exclude 30% of the population for consideration for either of those posts, simply because of you own, irrational and unjust, personal biases, you have NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE STATE OF CURRENT AFFAIRS.

...and on a side note, Happy.....................3000th post, to ME! :banana

"I'd like to thank all of the "straight man" postings, that, usually unwittingly, helped inspire so many of mine." *takes a bow*

Truthfully, though, I could'a had like 3017 postings, by now, if I'd wanted to, but I was going for quality over quantity. ^o)

whoa whoa whoa. I know several atheists and non believers....one of which has 3 masters degrees and is VERY very smart. Lets not dig too deep.... :rocker
Yeah, you just wouldn't pick him for a neighbor, or vote for him.

I just love when people say "I know a few atheists or non-believers", as though were some kind of rare oddity. Look around you, People. Statistically, whether they're open about their non-belief or not, 2 - 3 out of every 10 people around you, are non-believers. Yes, that includes the people sitting in the pews with you at church on Sundays. Not only that, as increasingly evidenced by The Clergy Project, the one who may be most likely to be a non-believer, in a church, synagogue or mosque, is your priest, pastor, minister, rabi, or imam.

Well as much as I would love to participate since I live in the space between the two extremes here, and as much as I was going to just let it go after the call to not devolve into a continuing back and forth about who is right in religion vs non religion being necessary to be moral (people do what people are going to do, regardless of religion), before this gets heated I'm killing it here.

Sorry to those who enjoy the debate, but the rules are the rules.
