I think it was 9 actually, and pretty much just a geo body with all gm drivetrain. Impressive nonetheless |

There has been a video of that one floating around the forum for years. The Hudson Boys have a Metro that has been modded really hard that has run 161mph on the salt. They hold 50 world records in the 1.0L class, and are in the process of building a new chassis for Aug. Very fast guys. |

This may not be it but is still pretty fun. What Mirage was turbo? The turbo came from a Mirage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8L8CTtsmvo Conor |

That's Z34's blue car years ago. Cool stuff! Here is the 9 sec one. Yup, full blown hot rod. Not much Geo Metro left on it... |

6 seconds? Is that before the motor blows up or before you get out of first gear?

yep, the blue car is kyle's with m3's turbo rig. if i remember correctly, that engine went from m3 to chad's4door and then to z34fivespeed. i believe the 16 second 1/4 mile on that. ![]() the 9 second car is a tube frame custom with a buick gnx turbo engine. the only thing left on that car that is geo metro is the body skin - and that isn't anything near stock. you should see the turbo on that dragster, not to mention the nitrous oxide. i think that kyle would give you the scoop on that modified g10 rig. even with all the work and tuning it had limitations and if i recall from the guy who originally built that engine in his teamswift thread, he was never very happy with it. it ate head gaskets like candy. he worked on that project for a long time and the intake manifold's limited flow crippled the engine's output.

I am not sure the safety equipment for a 6 second car would even fit in the Metro. It would be like driving in a iron maiden! I used the bacon emoticon because I like that one.

Back in the '60s there was a guy who had a VW Beetle with a 396 Big Block in it. It also was a custom frame hot rod with a (fairly stock-looking) bug body wrapped around it. To package it, the driveshaft was about 4 inches long, and the driver was sitting where the back seat used to be. Same Beetle wheelbase. Made for some wild wheelstands on launch!! |

The front under drive pulley from Z34s engine is on my G10 now. No you can't have it back. Love it. |

Kinda sorta. I am the original builder/owner/financier of the boosted 1.0 Setup/car in that video. I blew it up after fixing all the boost leaks that were present in the video, but not adjusting the FMU to compensate. Didn't have a windband because I was young and arrogant. When it blew up my freshly rebuilt 1300 mile engine, I got pissed and sold it to Chad and proceeded to move into the world of the TwinCam. Had i ever gotten back onto the dyno, or even had a clean run at the dragstrip, im certain the car would have been closer to 100whp and high 14s. Far as I know, Chad still has both the head and the turbo setup. |

Pretty quick for a TBI @ 7PSI. Edit, I thought I read td04, but I realized it is the older Tc-o4 which I couldn't find information on.

This is a video of the car about 1 week before it blew up the final time. This was with all the leaks fixed and with the clutch being nice. At the :24 second mark (as soon as I hit 3rd gear) it instantly went super lean (felt like someone was trying to pull the car backwards) so I got out of it, shifted to 5th, and nursed it across the line. Ran a 16.3 @ 73. Based on the 60ft and how it was pulling, I really believe it would have been a 14.9~ run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY8zzMQUgu0 Edited by z34-5speed, Apr 7 2016, 12:59 PM.
