Welcome. I guess some people anymore just don't realize the importance of basic writing skills in the communication process. It was darn unreadable at first, but when I took the time to separate the sentences with some punctuation and capitalization I understood everything he was saying. Maybe it's time for me to move out of the country, huh...

Around 14% of the U.S. population cannot read. The literacy statistic has not changed much in ten years. The No Child Left Behind law despite the surface intention was set up in a ways to hamper the public education system. In turn making it harder for teachers to teach, and it is focused on testing and not teaching. Testing that is not formative and I have never seen it once help even a single student. My own belief supported by a Master degree in teaching is that No Child Left Behind (the educational components) in the long run was set up in a way to reduce the middle class. If you want some interesting reading check out American Education by the author Joel Spring. Criticizing one individual no matter how easy it is to do for the lack of the ability to write correctly will not help considering there are at least 25 million more that cannot even write at all. |

Couldn't agree more. I witnessed this process first hand and would describe it as "No Child Left Behind" means that no matter how badly they do, they get moved ahead anyway. And when we get too many like that, we'll just lower the testing standards... again. |

I'd hate for this to turn "political", but I could tell how bad the public schools are getting up through my senior year of high school. Pennsylvania's standard testing was even worse than Ohio's pointless testing. Also, to take into consideration, Ohio's schools aren't the greatest, and East Liverpool SD ranked in the bottom 10% of the state. My sister got a free pass to the local private school on state or federal funding as does any other ELSD student once they hit their 5th grade year because of how low the district ranks. This opportunity is only available in 5th grade, but most local families don't take advantage of it. Also, Michelle Obama's lunches were disgusting...

Here is another good Craigslist ad. It is written better than the one in question but this car is a piece of work! http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/fre/546194826.html Yes, it does seem like education, etc. have been dumbed down quite a bit over the years. Ads like this are common on some of the local classifieds sites with poor grammar and spelling errors but I have to say I can usually understand them. Conor |

Yeah... but it sure isn't the dumbest! ![]() I like to stir the pot. Isn't the first time that I've sent a GMF thread to a dummy selling a car, but it's the best response I've ever gotten!

Maybe every GMF member should CL-email this guy, just for kicks and grins. Wonder if he gets enough emails he would do something with the price, like,........raise it. |
