There seem to be more and more drivers like this everyday! There are electronic billboards here that say things like "Smart Phones Make For Dumb Drivers" and "Don't let your last words be in a txt". People will just stop in the lane to text and then you have to drive around them on the wrong side of the road. I don't think that a phone is to blame in this one but I have to say that is pretty amazing. I once heard a story about a person who pretty much scraped the side of their car off after a few drinks by getting a little too close to the support pillar of a parking garage. They drove it this way for a while and then decided to trade it in. The pulled the bad side up close against the side of the building so the car looked fine from what was visible. The dealer gave them the full trade in after "inspecting" the car. It looks like this one wouldn't even pass that type of inspection. Conor |

It's a foreign country for starters, so no telling what training they had. Next, either the throttle is hung wide open or they are standing on the throttle pedal thinking they are on the brakes. Happens here frequently enough where (usually older) drivers smash through a store front from the parking spaces. In this case it appears they start to pull forward and go to step on the brakes and hit the throttle instead, resulting in it jumping forward. They then shift to reverse but still have the throttle pegged causing it to shoot backwards, then shift to a forward gear and launch forward again. After that they finally find the brake pedal. It could be an electric vehicle as well, meaning no racing engine noise. Officially termed "unintended acceleration " . |

Blaming the cell phone is like blaming a gun for shooting someone. I saw a lady swerving around the highway today... fast, slow, fast, slow... When I was finally able to pass without being hit, sure enough, a cell phone in her hand, with the lady looking down. I hit my horn a few times, and got a dirty look. Makes me wish I had a louder horn!
