jack of all trades, master of two

so, what are the pros and cons of said vehicle?

cant complain about the price-FREE- B-)

3.2 dohc v6 4x4 auto -lots of power
everything works :rocker
375,000 km (233,000 miles)
has oil leaks. needs front suspension work (tires feathering on outer edges)
needs windshield, rh mirror lens, lh front outer cv boot
loose u-joints front shaft. both pinion seals are leaking.
headlights and fog lights cracked. (all 4 glass lenses)
BUT
I have been finding that parts are cheap for it.
I wanted a samuri, but the trooper was FREE. :thumb

I don't think these were the most reliable ever but if it is still running after all this time, it must have been a good one. This wouldn't have been my first choice but you can't argue with FREE.

Mr Mojo Risin'

Well, after working on like 5 of these over the years I can tell you if it has the 4 speed automatic transmission it will just randomly clunk out of existence one day without any warning (clutch band failure). It will also blow a head gasket, but to be honest every time I saw that they usually had around 150000 miles so this one is the miracle child, don't anger it haha

Trade it to some knob (idiot) for a Cherokee and live a better life ;) Luckily its not a Trooper II...I have bad stories for those

Please just call me; "Schultz"

Worst problems I have run into on the Trooper (and other Isuzu trucks) is the lug nutz.
If they haven't stripped or galled, then clean the threads (wire brush and thread chaser or tap & die set) and put a VERY TINY amount of anti-seize on them. The book says "light oil".
The lugs tend to gall together and break when removing the wheels.
In the inspection lane I used to have the owner of the truck remove his own wheels to keep him from blaming me for the broken studs.
I hope you have good times with your sue-zoo. One of my friends swears by them. Says they are the only truck that will consistently handle loose sand when he goes shark fishing.
