"Chicks dig me and guys think I'm cool."

I bought this 1993 convertible over 6 years ago for my daughter Britney.

After owning it for awhile we sold it to a family friend, who trashed it delivering pizzas. I bought it back and have been slowly rehabbing it ever since.

It started out all magenta, then I two-toned it magenta and black before selling it. Buying it back I had to replace the hood and trunk lid, so I plastidipped it red, white, and blue for last year's July 4th parade with my dad.

Then I went with a two-tone blue and black that was ugly but served its purpose for awhile.

It was time to take it back to stock. So after painstakingly removing all of the old plastidip and finishing some minor body work, I took it to a local Maaco. It's ready to pick up now, and the paint guy sent me this teaser photo.....

More pics tomorrow after I pick it up and get it all assembled.

The paint came out really well! I just need to get the trim back on, then gut and replace the interior and she's good to go. I was also able to hit my honeyhole today and got LUCKY!! I found an unmolested, unscratched boot cover with all the hardware, four Geo hubcaps from a convertible, and four pieces of window foam for the convertible top....the exact four I needed! And all for $75!

I'm thinking about painting my car either Maaco or rattle can. How much did you spend at Maaco. How much prep work did YOU have to do and how much did Maaco do?

I spent $550. They provided a light sanding, primer, and paint. I removed all of the markers, headlights, taillights, door and trunk trim, and mirrors. It only took about 15 minutes to put all of that back on in the parking lot.

Wow that looks fantastic. Maaco really did a great job. It looks like factory! :thumb

Did they have to paint jambs and backs of panels, or was the original magenta finish still there?

They did a bit on the inside, but the original magenta was already there.

New paint on a car changes your entire perspective on other human beings. Just sharing from someone who had a professional paintjob done.
