I've got about six internet sites which I visit very often each day. Seems that they just are not giving me as much info as I yearn for. Do you guys have some sites which you visit and would like to share with me? No porn, just some type of DIY type stuff or news stuff. YouTube is the bomb but I'm kinda tired of the sites I hit on there also. Got any ideas for the Tube? Terry Edited by dayle1960, Apr 26 2016, 07:12 PM.

In 2007 I got caught up in the whole Boeing 787 role out PR stunt. I was bored at work so started following airline industry stuff. Several times every day I go to airliners.net and check out the forums . I know a couple of years ago I saw a user name from geometroforum on airliners.net after a crash, so at least one forum member participates there. It is interesting how people will argue about things for years before it happens (because it takes 7 years to develop an airplane and a plane has a 30 year life span). There is a military forum section where you can track how the K46 tanker is doing. |

You might hit the Cartalk or Bobistheoilguy forums if you want something car-related. If you want to view the low-end spectrum of what lives in your town, type "<name of your city> Topix" into a search. I was introduced into this today as I mentioned in another thread. Pure crap. If you want to be pissed off, go there. I hope the local law enforcement agencies watch this crap! Conor |

Dayle, you Badass! I like lowtechmagazine.com. You will quickly have read everything on there, but is an interesting site. Jalopnik is kind of a silly car type website. Kind of like Top Gear in print. I also like Treehugger.com. Though they kind of gush at every hair-brained, " Green", invention or idea, there is still lots of interesting stuff to look at. I feel you, though. You gotta have something to look at while winding your Paracord up, or wiping off the Cosmoline, or topping off your Big Berkey water filter. |

My favorite sites other than the geometrofourm is bringatrailer.com and barnfinds.com. No diy stuff but a lot of interesting older cars for sale. |

The interwebz is mainly a big reference book to me...I spend more time looking up things, usually project related, then I do on the forum(s). Find a project, see what others have done before you, figure out how to do it from what you've learned on here...should occupy your mind for a while. |

jalopnik.com I can kill a few hours there. The saga of Doug DeMuro and the Range Rover is hilarious. Look up his youtube channel too. Him trying to hypermile a Hummer was a good read too. Spoiler: click to toggle

Washed part of the house yesterday. Cleared the Global Naked Chicks garden last weekend. Cut the grass with the wife and helped her plant flowers and mulched the beds. Seems when I get off work I'm just too tired to do manual labor around the house. Just sitting in front of the boob tube and surfing the web. Yea, I know it is disasterous to my mental heath. I gotta get out of this state of mind. Ugh.

For one of my favorite DIY sites, it would be: http://www.diychatroom.com/ ...I hardly use it much any more unless I need specific help with something, but it's pretty cool to check out if you haven't. News/information-wise, laugh if you will, but this dated site is one of my favorite: http://www.refdesk.com/ The layout hasn't changed much since the 90's, but it's a huge bank of info, and I make a small donation yearly, plus I always keep it as my homepage. The right side briefs you on headlines such as AP from major news sites, there is always an interesting "article" or "fact/quote/whatever" of the day kind of thing near the top. There are search boxes for major sites on the left, and a goldmine of links that otherwise might be hard to find. Here is another very useful page on the site: http://www.refdesk.com/instant.html You'll waste hours and hours here when you are bored. And it isn't useless, brain-dead stuff (like people blowing up things on Youtube), it's all educational and helpful. Wow... I sound like a sales guy...
