Some of you may remember a thread i started back in December about my father. Well this morning at 5:30am i get a phone call from the nursing home telling me my dad is in bad shape. She hung up the phone and told me she would call me back in a few mins. As i was getting my cloths on she called me back and told me my father had passed away. This upcoming weekend i was planning on going to go pick him up and we was going to go ride around for a few hours surprising his old friends.. Thats not gonna happen now.

What can you do? I'm at peace with it. Usually when something happened to dad, or every time they would call early or late at nigh i was nervous as all heck because i feared it was THAT phone call. But this morning i was calm; it still sad, but i know he's in no more pain. I will have to go get he ashes in a day or two. I just got back paying them to go ahead and start the cremation.

When he i get him home, i'm going to play GEORGE THOROGOOD "Bad To The Bone". That was our song back in the day when we would ride around in the old Malibu, The old style cherry bomb mufflers, bucket seats, i don't remember the engine that was in it but he built a bad ass one. When he would raise the hood people couldn't believe that engine was in a rust bucket. Oh yeah, passenger side floor pan was rusted out. Remember going down the road watching the asphalt and spiting... lol

Got that same call from my mom as I was driving near Nashville going home to Iowa from Alabama to say goodbye. I taljed to him on the phone before I left, but he was unconcious. He had prostate cancer that was not caught in time. That was 2 years ago now, still havent really greived yet. Sorry for your loss and now the hard time will hit soon once you realuse he is gone and you cant call and ask him a question or say happy birthday/holiday.

As the days go by you will find yourself saying, "Dang I wish dad was here so I could ask him about....(fill in the blank). At times things come up in my daily life and I wish he was around so I could call him up and pick his mind on how to fix something or how to do something.

More or less, the loss of my dad is sad. I don't cry over him being gone, I just miss him being there to chat with. Mom is fixing to be in the same boat, so at least I have some time to prepare for that. Don't get discouraged or pissed off. Our lives are temporary, just make sure you do as much as you can to cement relationships. Otherwise you'll be living with a bunch of "what if's" and that will drive you mad.

Condolences and just remember the happy times. God bless.
